For many who grew up in the 80s and 90s, Jim Henson was a master of imagination. Shows like Muppet Babies, Fraggle Rock, and especially Sesame Street created unforgettable characters, worlds, and songs that people still love. Some fans particularly cherish Henson’s fantasy films, and Labyrinth—his 1986 movie starring a young Jennifer Connelly—is considered his best work. The film follows a girl who journeys into a magical kingdom to save her baby brother. Now, Labyrinth is returning to theaters to celebrate its 40th anniversary.
Fathom Entertainment is bringing the classic film Labyrinth back to theaters! To celebrate its 40th anniversary, a newly remastered 4K version starring David Bowie and Jennifer Connelly will be shown January 8-11. A special 4K Steelbook edition is also available. The theatrical event includes a featurette celebrating Labyrinth fans, filmed at the recent “Labyrinth Experience & Masked Ball” in the UK, presented by Thames Con in association with The Jim Henson Company.
The movie Labyrinth is full of imaginative creatures and stunning designs by Brian Froud, and it also launched David Bowie into the mainstream for a new generation. Many people, myself included, simply assumed that’s what David Bowie naturally looked like! But regardless, the song “Magic Dance” is fantastic.
The movie Labyrinth and this website have a funny thing in common: people often mistakenly add the word “the” to the beginning of our names. Many call the film “The Labyrinth,” when it’s actually just Labyrinth. Similarly, people often say “The TopMob,” but we’ve simply been TopMob since around 2012.
