Labrum London FW25 Is Full of Nostalgia

On Saturday evening, Foday Dumbuya’s modern menswear brand, Labrum London, transformed Abbey Road Studios in St. John’s Woods for its Fall/Winter 2025 fashion event, an extraordinary show inspired by music, affectionately acknowledging the rich history of UK music, named “Designed by Immigrants: Our Sound.

Dumbuya shared with Vogue, “This season, I found myself reminiscing about a period that kindled my passion for British music. It was when London began to adopt this fresh sound that resonated with our identity and turned away from the US influence. To fully appreciate this evolution, we must acknowledge those who spearheaded this movement; they are the descendants of migration, their families hailing from different lands.

At the runway, artists such as Akala and Ghetts showcased Dumbuya’s latest design philosophy, showcasing his unique fashion creations. These included double-breasted blazers paired with casually oversized trousers, thick coats adorned with functional pockets, and delicate embroidery on a variety of formal wear ranging from button-up shirts to pleated pants. Meanwhile, they performed their own music for an exclusive crowd. “Their musical talents created a harmonious backdrop that perfectly echoed the essence of the show, allowing the performances to blend effortlessly and with unbridled intensity,” Dumbuya remarked.

In this collection, the patterns inspired by cowrie shells played a crucial role, symbolizing the core aesthetic – a characteristic style often seen in Labrum designs, which frequently pushes boundaries using retro influences.
