Kendrick Lamar’s ‘Not Like Us’ is all over the Grammy ballots

As a seasoned gamer who’s spent countless hours navigating the labyrinth of Hip Hop battles and Grammy nominations, I can’t help but feel like a kid in a candy store watching this year’s contenders unfold. The epic showdown between Kendrick Lamar and Drake has certainly been one for the history books, and it’s fascinating to see their tracks “Not Like Us” and “Like That” making waves at the Grammys.

Kendrick Lamar’s Drake diss “Not Like Us” is the gift that keeps on giving to the Compton rapper.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the track has been nominated across several Grammy categories. It’s been entered for consideration in Record of the Year, Song of the Year, Best Rap Performance, Best Rap Song, Best Music Video, and Best Arrangement, Instruments, and Vocals.

Apart from “Not Like Us,” another track connected to Kendrick Lamar has made its way onto the ballots. The track is “Like That” by Future and Metro Boomin, featuring him, and it’s being considered for Record of the Year, Song of the Year, Best Rap Performance, and Best Rap Song.

The conflict between Kendrick and Drake started following Kendrick’s mention of the OVO rapper and J. Cole in some verses, where he claimed they had disrespected him on their collaboration track titled “First Person Shooter.” In his song “Like That,” Kendrick refers to himself as the only significant one among Cole, Drake, and himself, who are often referred to as Hip Hop’s top three rappers.

The conflict concluded as Kendrick unveiled “Not Like Us” and Drake debuted “The Heart Part 6.” When the dust settled, it was widely perceived that K. Dot emerged victorious. However, some of Drake’s followers contested this and argued that Drake had triumphed instead, as he remains one of the most prominent artists globally.

In contrast, it appears that a significant number of people who believe Kendrick Lamar won are primarily concentrating on the content of his lyrics, the quality of his verses, and the competitive tracks he produced.

A notable figure on this year’s Grammy nominations list is Beyoncé, specifically for her “Cowboy Carter” album. Among the tracks under consideration are “Texas Hold ‘Em”, which could potentially be nominated in multiple categories such as Record of the Year, Song of the Year, and Best Country Song.

Simultaneously, “Bodyguard” could receive nominations in both the Best Pop Solo Performance category and the Best Pop Duo/Performance. Additionally, “Cowboy Carter” has been listed as a contender for the Best Country Album award.
