Kendrick Lamar says Doechii is ‘the hardest’ rapper in the game

As a seasoned gamer of Hip Hop with decades under my belt, I can confidently say that Doechii is a breath of fresh air in today’s music scene. Having witnessed Kendrick Lamar‘s rise from Section 80 to his current status, it’s not every day we come across an artist who evokes such a strong reaction from the TDE boss himself.

Kendrick Lamar isn’t big on social media and seldom posts, but he broke this pattern to give Doechii a significant compliment and shine a brighter light on her mixtape titled “Alligator Bites Never Heal“. In the spirit of sharing, he wrote, “The hardest in the game” alongside the mixtape’s cover.

Last month, the Florida rapper was applauded by her boss at Top Dawg Entertainment (TDE), Anthony “Top Dawg” Tiffith, shortly after the release of her album Alligator Bites Never Heal. Intriguingly, he compared Doechii’s album to Kendrick Lamar’s 2011 LP, stating that listening to it gave him the same feeling he had when Kendrick dropped Section 80. Tiffith exclaimed, “She’s one of those for sure!!!” in his praise.

In addition to discussing Doechii’s album, Kendrick Lamar also posted a Cash App commercial video featuring Doechii and comedian ExavierTV. This advertisement is produced by Kendrick’s media company, pgLang. The clip depicts a dialogue between Doechii and the comedian about money management and avoiding get-rich-quick scams.

It’s apparent that Doechii’s collaboration with Kendrick Lamar serves as further evidence of her burgeoning career. However, despite this, the 26-year-old has expressed that she hasn’t reached the point where she’s ready to team up with him for a song just yet.

As a budding artist, I’ve been dreaming about reaching out to Kendrick, maybe even asking Top to help connect us. I mentioned this on The Joe Budden Podcast last month. But let’s keep it real, I’m not there yet, not with the kind of record or maturity that would make such an opportunity possible. I’ve got work to do and growth ahead before I can step up to that level.

Doechii stands out because she caters to fans of intricate lyrics as well as those who enjoy upbeat, fun tracks. Recently, she expressed her ambition to reintroduce cleverness and masterful rhymes into Hip Hop during an interview with Apple Music, and it appears she’s making significant strides towards achieving this goal.
