We see Kara holding her dog on Krypton, her home planet – clearly the reason for the dog’s name. As everything around her burns, she says, “Krypton didn’t disappear overnight. The gods wouldn’t allow that.” This suggests she’s fighting both inner demons and outside challenges, which contribute to her struggles with alcohol.
Unlike her optimistic cousin, Kara is a more down-to-earth person. This realistic perspective will actually make her a very effective hero. Plus, the choice of Blondie’s “Call Me” as Supergirl’s theme song is brilliant!
