This week on Peacock, you’ll find a wide variety of movies, from fun animated films for the whole family to spooky monster movies and popular horror classics. We’ve included a quick guide to each title – who directed it, who’s in it, and what it’s about – so you can easily find something to watch based on your mood.
10. ‘How to Train Your Dragon 2’ (2014)

As a huge fan of the first ‘How to Train Your Dragon,’ I was so excited for the sequel! ‘How to Train Your Dragon 2’ picks up five years later, and it’s amazing. Hiccup and Toothless are now exploring new, unmapped lands, but they run into trouble with this really dangerous dragon trapper named Drago. Dean DeBlois did a fantastic job directing, and the voice cast – including Jay Baruchel, Cate Blanchett, America Ferrera, and Gerard Butler – is perfect. The movie really expands the world we fell in love with, introducing tons of new dragon species, some incredible aerial battles, and even a secret dragon sanctuary. It’s a DreamWorks Animation film, rated PG, and runs about 102 minutes – definitely worth checking out!
9. ‘Scary Movie’ (2000)

‘Scary Movie’ is a comedy that playfully imitates popular teen horror films from the late 1990s, like ‘Scream’ and ‘I Know What You Did Last Summer.’ The movie follows a group of high school friends who are being pursued by a killer after a tragic accident. Directed by Keenen Ivory Wayans and starring Anna Faris, Shawn Wayans, Marlon Wayans, Regina Hall, and Jon Abrahams, it’s filled with over-the-top humor and satire. Released by Dimension Films, the R-rated film runs for approximately 88 minutes and contains crude jokes and violent scenes.
8. ‘Ghostbusters’ (1984)

‘Ghostbusters’ is a funny and spooky movie about a group of scientists who study ghosts but lose their jobs. They start a business in New York City to remove ghosts when paranormal activity increases. The film, directed by Ivan Reitman and starring Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Harold Ramis, Ernie Hudson, and Sigourney Weaver, is known for its special effects and introduced iconic items like the Ecto-1 car and proton packs. It’s rated PG, runs about 105 minutes, and was released by Columbia Pictures.
7. ‘Scream’ (1996)

‘Scream’ is a horror film about Sidney Prescott and her friends who are terrorized by a masked killer known as Ghostface in a California town. The movie, directed by Wes Craven and written by Kevin Williamson, stars Neve Campbell, Courteney Cox, and David Arquette. It helped revive the slasher film genre with its clever use of meta-commentary and misleading clues. Released by Dimension Films, ‘Scream’ is rated R and lasts about 111 minutes.
6. ‘Monster House’ (2006)

Monster House is a family-friendly animated adventure about three kids who realize the house across the street is actually a living, breathing monster. The film, directed by Gil Kenan and from the studios ImageMovers and Amblin Entertainment, features the voices of Mitchel Musso, Sam Lerner, Spencer Locke, and Steve Buscemi. Using a special animation technique called performance-capture, the 91-minute movie was released by Columbia Pictures.
5. ‘How to Train Your Dragon’ (2025)

This movie brings the popular DreamWorks fantasy story to life with real actors. It follows Hiccup and Toothless, who form an unexpected friendship that changes the long-standing battle between Vikings and dragons on the island of Berk. Dean DeBlois directed the film, which stars Mason Thames and Nico Parker. Universal Pictures and DreamWorks produced it, using impressive sets and visual effects to create a fresh take on the world, including updated dragon designs and Viking clans. It’s part of a larger series of animated movies and TV shows.
4. ‘Corpse Bride’ (2005)

Tim Burton and Mike Johnson’s ‘Corpse Bride’ is a stop-motion animated film set in a Victorian village. The story follows a shy groom who mistakenly proposes to a dead woman and is taken to the Land of the Dead. Featuring the voices of Johnny Depp, Helena Bonham Carter, and Emily Watson, this PG-rated film from Warner Bros. Pictures is made with beautifully crafted puppets and detailed animation, and runs for approximately 77 minutes.
3. ‘M3GAN 2.0’ (2025)

The upcoming film, ‘M3GAN 2.0’, continues the story of the realistic doll whose programming meant to protect goes dangerously wrong. The team behind the first movie – including writer Akela Cooper – is returning to create this new thriller. This sequel will delve deeper into the world of AI and robotics, exploring new safety measures, potential dangers, and the influence of the corporation that created M3GAN. Universal Pictures will once again distribute the film.
2. ‘The Grinch’ (2018)

As a huge animation fan, I recently checked out Illumination’s take on ‘The Grinch,’ and it’s a fun adaptation of the classic Dr. Seuss story. Basically, it’s about that famously grumpy green guy who tries to ruin Christmas for the cheerful Whos down in Whoville. Benedict Cumberbatch does a fantastic job voicing the Grinch, and the movie also stars Rashida Jones and Kenan Thompson. It’s visually really bright and colorful, all done with CG animation, and it’s definitely something the whole family can enjoy – it’s rated PG and runs around 85 minutes. Universal Pictures put it out, and I thought it was a solid, heartwarming watch.
1. ‘Jurassic World Rebirth’ (2025)

Okay, so ‘Jurassic World Rebirth’ is the latest entry in the ‘Jurassic’ saga, continuing the story of bringing dinosaurs back to life and, predictably, the chaos that ensues. As a long-time follower of this franchise, I can tell you it definitely feels connected to the original ‘Jurassic Park,’ but it also introduces some fresh faces and settings. It’s very much a classic ‘Jurassic World’ experience – expect genetically modified dinos and a whole lot of tension around keeping them contained. Universal is clearly banking on this one as a major summer blockbuster, and honestly, it delivers that familiar action-adventure punch we’ve come to expect.
