Crunchyroll is seeing strong viewership numbers, with both popular returning series and exciting new anime adaptations attracting a lot of attention. Fan interest in genres like dark fantasy and isekai is keeping traffic high on the platform. This week’s most popular shows demonstrate that both long-running favorites and brand-new series are performing well. Here’s a look at the anime currently topping the streaming charts.
‘Solo Leveling’ (2024–)

In a world filled with dangerous monsters emerging from magical gates, Sung Jinwoo is a low-ranking hunter struggling to survive. After barely escaping a deadly double dungeon, he’s selected by a strange system that grants him the power to grow stronger. This ability allows him to improve his skills and stats, leading him on a journey to uncover the hidden truths of his world, as told in ‘Solo Leveling’. The series is an adaptation of the popular South Korean comic and is animated by A-1 Pictures. It has quickly become a standout action anime.
‘ROLL OVER AND DIE: I Will Fight for an Ordinary Life with My Love and Cursed Sword!’ (2026–)

Flum Apricot is unexpectedly abandoned by her heroic team because her abilities seem weak. After being sold into slavery and left to die in a monster-filled pit, she finds a cursed sword that surprisingly turns her weaknesses into strengths. With a rescued companion by her side, Flum sets out to create her own destiny in ‘ROLL OVER AND DIE: I Will Fight for an Ordinary Life with My Love and Cursed Sword!’. This dark fantasy story combines thrilling action with a personal journey of self-discovery and overcoming adversity, and is based on a popular light novel known for its emotional depth.
‘Fire Force’ (2019–)

In Tokyo, people are suddenly bursting into flames and becoming destructive creatures called Infernals. Shinra Kusakabe, a young man with the ability to ignite his own feet, joins Special Fire Force Company 8 to fight this dangerous phenomenon. As he battles these fiery threats in ‘Fire Force,’ Shinra also investigates the tragic fire that took his family’s lives. The show is known for its exciting animation by David Production and its creative take on fire-based superpowers, delving into themes of responsibility, hidden conspiracies, and what it truly means to be a hero.
‘Hell’s Paradise’ (2023–)

Gabimaru, a skilled but ruthless ninja facing execution, is offered a deal: a full pardon in exchange for retrieving the Elixir of Life from a legendary, dangerous island. He’s accompanied by Sagiri, a master executioner. The island is filled with horrifying creatures and secrets, pushing their fighting skills to the extreme in a place called ‘Hell’s Paradise’. To survive, Gabimaru and Sagiri must team up with unexpected allies as they face the island’s deadly challenges. This visually stunning and maturely-told story is produced by MAPPA.
‘DARK MOON: THE BLOOD ALTAR’ (2026–)

‘DARK MOON: THE BLOOD ALTAR’ is a supernatural series about seven vampire brothers attending Decelis Academy, each hiding a shared secret. When a mysterious girl named Sooha arrives, she awakens buried memories and draws them into a dangerous world. The brothers must balance the challenges of high school with protecting Sooha from warring werewolf groups and age-old enemies. This story expands on a universe created with the K-pop group ENHYPEN, blending romance, mystery, and action in a contemporary city setting.
‘Gachiakuta’ (2025–)

Rudo is a resident of a poor district in a city built on the clouds. This city has a harsh punishment for criminals and outcasts: being thrown into a seemingly endless pit called the Abyss. Wrongfully convicted of murder, Rudo falls into the Abyss and discovers ‘Gachiakuta,’ a world inhabited by scavengers who’ve learned to use the power of trash to survive. There, he joins a group called the Cleaners and develops the ability to control discarded objects. The series is notable for its gritty, realistic style and its thought-provoking look at consumerism and waste, and it’s a highly anticipated project from Studio Bones.
‘Jack-of-All-Trades, Party of None’ (2026–)

Okay, so I’m totally hooked on this new series! It’s about a regular guy, Souya, who gets transported to a fantasy world with all these super-powered heroes. The thing is, he doesn’t get one amazing skill – instead, he gets a bunch of little, useful ones. At first, everyone kind of ignores him, but it turns out his everyday knowledge and ability to cleverly combine simple spells are actually what keeps the group alive! What I really love is that it’s a different take on the ‘transported to another world’ story – it’s not about being the strongest, it’s about being able to adapt and make the most of what you’ve got, even if you’re not the chosen one. It’s really refreshing!
‘Sentenced to Be a Hero’ (2026–)

In a kingdom that views heroes as disposable, Hylos, a once-honored warrior, is demoted and forced to lead a unit of criminals and disgraced soldiers. This group is sent on incredibly dangerous missions in ‘Sentenced to Be a Hero.’ Hylos struggles to uphold his sense of justice while leading a team society has given up on. The story delves into serious issues like political corruption and the burden of being a symbol of hope, offering a realistic and intense look at fantasy warfare and the complicated relationships between its characters.
‘Jujutsu Kaisen’ (2020–)

Yuji Itadori is a high school student who accidentally becomes host to a powerful, ancient curse named Ryomen Sukuna after swallowing a cursed object. To avoid being killed, he enrolls at Tokyo Jujutsu High, where he learns to fight curses and locate the missing pieces of Sukuna. Mentored by the incredibly powerful sorcerer Satoru Gojo, Yuji battles increasingly dangerous supernatural threats to protect humanity. ‘Jujutsu Kaisen’ has become incredibly popular worldwide, praised for its complex magic system and thrilling fight scenes, and it’s considered a key example of modern action-horror anime.
