Jordan Peele’s Next Film Removed from Universal 2026 Slate

Anticipated films from renowned directors are eagerly awaited and we’re excited for the next thrilling journey or intense experience they offer. We crave that burst of excitement, directors! However, we firmly believe a movie should release only when the filmmakers deem it ready, not the studios. So sometimes, release dates can change (much like Mortal Kombat II). Unfortunately, this has happened to Jordan Peele’s upcoming movie. The Academy Award winner’s follow-up to 2022’s Nope, initially scheduled for October 2026 by Universal Pictures, is no longer there. In simpler terms, it’s been postponed.

The information we came across on Variety is quite disheartening. At first, Peele and Universal planned to release the movie on Christmas 2024, but that didn’t materialize. Subsequent union strikes forced a shift in the release date to what was supposed to be the next Halloween, but it seems that won’t happen either. Unfortunately, there’s no news yet about where we might see this movie.

In just three films, Jordan Peele has established himself as a notable voice to keep an eye on in the horror and sci-fi genres. He burst onto the scene with the critically acclaimed 2017 release Get Out, earning an Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay. The following year, he released Us, a more ambitious production that showcased a broader narrative. His latest film, Nope from 2022, delves into the unsettling theme of interfering with nature and features an alien creature. Each of his films has sparked much debate, leaving us eagerly anticipating his next production.

Ever since the release of “Get Out”, Jordan Peele and his production company, Monkeypaw Productions, have been active in producing a variety of projects, often focusing on horror or fantasy genres. For television, they have created adaptations such as the reboot of “The Twilight Zone” (which Peele also hosted), “Lovecraft Country”, and “Hunters”. In film, their work includes titles like “Candyman”, “Wendell & Wild”, and “Monkey Man”.
