During a recent interview for Variety’s Actors on Actors, David Corenswet playfully joked with Jonathan Bailey about Bailey being named People’s Sexiest Man Alive for 2025. Corenswet is 32, while Bailey is 37.
During their conversation, Bailey exclaimed, “What a time to be alive!” Corenswet playfully referenced Bailey’s role, repeating “[Expletive] Man Alive. Jonathan Bailey. [Expletive] Man Alive.” Bailey responded with laughter and a hug, saying, “It was so lovely to chat.” Corenswet then asked about Bailey’s future plans. Bailey jokingly replied, “[Expletive] Man Alive 2026.”
Jonathan Bailey is quickly becoming a major star and a popular figure. The Los Angeles Times notes his fans come from all backgrounds and orientations. In 2022, Time magazine recognized him as a Next Generation Leader, praising him for changing what it means to be a ‘Hollywood heartthrob.’ This year, he was included in Time’s 100 Next list of rising influencers and made history as the first openly gay man to be named People’s Sexiest Man Alive.
Bailey has received high praise from both critics and those who work with him. Peter Travers described him as a remarkably talented actor who excels in both dramatic and musical roles. Kerensa Cadenas of The Cut noted that speaking with Bailey is a delightful experience, highlighting his charming, handsome, and funny personality.
Director Marianne Elliott said he was incredibly kind and pleasant, but noted that his performances have a thrilling, slightly dangerous quality due to his unpredictable nature. Phoebe Waller-Bridge described him as exceptionally energetic and playful, comparing him to a burst of fun and excitement.
Bailey is a prominent advocate for the LGBTQ+ community and has been recognized for his work by several publications. He’s been featured on lists like Attitude’s Trailblazers (2020), Variety’s Power of Pride (2022), Out’s Most Impactful and Influential (2023), and The Independent’s Pride List (2024).
