It’s been verified that Jon Bernthal will reprise his role as The Punisher in “Spider-Man: Fresh Start“. The actor made this announcement to a TikTok content creator during the Washington State Summer Con last month.
According to the latest news, it’s been confirmed that Jon Bernthal will once again play The Punisher, joining Tom Holland as Spider-Man in a film scheduled for release on July 31, 2026. This project, directed by Destin Daniel Cretton (known for Shang-Chi), also features this character’s return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe after his appearance in Daredevil: Born Again Season 1.
Bernthal was also questioned about how Shane would react if he encountered Negan on “The Walking Dead.” “I’d give him a good thrashing,” Bernthal responded.

Besides his part in “Spider-Man 4”, Bernthal is also set to appear in a solo “Punisher” presentation on Disney+, as per updates on social media. It appears that filming for this project is planned for July 17 and 18 at Greenwood Cemetery in Brooklyn, New York City.
The special, penned by Jon Bernthal and Reinaldo Marcus Green, will have Green taking the director’s chair too. It is scheduled to debut on Disney+ in the year 2026, making its appearance within Marvel Studios’ Phase 6 collection of releases.
The NYC shooting supports the idea that Marvel continues to develop street-level characters such as Punisher, Daredevil, and Spiderman, notably with the upcoming “Spider-Man 4” being filmed in Glasgow.
