John Stamos Says Ex-Wife Rebecca Romijn Thought He Was “Not Smart Enough” for Her Friends

He explained that he felt lost as her career began to take off, noting, “While I was supporting Rebecca’s success, I felt like I was losing my own identity. She made it clear she was the rising star and I was just the TV actor… and I started to believe that was true.”

He was pleased with her success, but he admitted it sometimes made him neglect his own work. Eventually, he felt like she had surpassed him.

John Stamos and his wife first connected in 1994 at a Victoria’s Secret fashion show and became engaged on Christmas Eve in 1997. They married on September 19, 1998, at the Beverly Hills Hotel, but announced their split in April 2004. Stamos filed for divorce in August of that year, and it was finalized on March 1, 2005.

Since then, John Stamos has experienced positive changes in both his personal and professional life. He began working with Project Cuddle, a charity dedicated to helping children, serving as their national spokesperson. He also found love again with Caitlin McHugh, a model and actress. The couple got engaged in October 2017, married in February 2018, and had a son in April 2018.
