Jay Electronica defends Jay-Z over Kendrick Lamar Super Bowl choice

As a gamer with a deep-rooted love for both music and sports, I find myself deeply immersed in this ongoing drama surrounding the Super Bowl LIX halftime show. Having grown up in New Orleans, a city that breathes hip-hop and football, I can’t help but feel a strong connection to this whole situation.

For the past three days, there has been ongoing criticism following Kendrick Lamar’s announcement that he would perform during the Super Bowl LIX halftime show, and Jay-Z continues to face a significant amount of pushback as well.

To date, several personalities including Nicki Minaj, Birdman, Drake, Boosie Baddazz, and DJ Akademiks have criticized Jay for choosing Lamar over Lil Wayne, as the latter hails from New Orleans, which is hosting this year’s Super Bowl, despite Roc Nation selecting Lamar instead.

Some individuals have taken up Jay’s cause, with Jay Electronica among them. On September 11th, he expressed his thoughts through a series of tweets, voicing criticism towards those who were disparaging him.

Electronica tweeted, ‘People are quick to show respect for Hov, but not for David Geffen, Jimmy Iovine, Lucian Grange, Lyor Cohen and others. I have no regard for your supposed gangster status. You’re a coward.’

“Why are you so quick to resort to violence against each other over trivial matters?” he continued. “If you channeled just a tenth of this negative energy towards a shared goal, our people would gain freedom instantly. Peace be upon you.

The artist hailing from New Orleans, known as Electronica, appeared to take issue with Hurricane Chris, a native of Shreveport, Louisiana, not just for his criticism of Jay-Z but also 50 Cent. Last month, Chris expressed dissatisfaction towards 50 Cent, stating that he should have featured more Louisiana artists during his “Humor & Harmony” show and shared an angry video to express this.

“And let’s be real. @50cent just opened an entire industry in shreveport and these p***y a*s nights slave cooning over a football game. If you don’t get the f**k outta my face,” Electronica tweeted.

Additionally, Fat Joe voiced his support for Jay-Z and expressed that fans should appreciate having a Brooklyn icon inviting rap artists to perform at the Super Bowl halftime show. “In essence,” said Joe, “if he wasn’t doing shows, there would be no hip hop.
