I’ve been a fan of Jamie Foxx for ages, and it’s amazing to see how far he’s come! He started out with great supporting roles in movies like Ali and Collateral, but quickly became a huge star. Of course, everyone remembers his incredible performance as Ray Charles – he deserved that Oscar! That really opened doors for him, leading to starring roles in films like Law Abiding Citizen and the super-intense Django Unchained.
What I really appreciate about Jamie is that he’s honest. He’ll openly admit when a movie just didn’t work out. He’s even talked about Stealth – the 2005 action film with robotic jets – and called it a bit of a flop!
He told a funny story about promoting his 2007 movie, The Kingdom. Even though he wasn’t thrilled with how it turned out, he had to act like it was amazing during interviews. He’d tell people it was the greatest movie ever, and then people would come up to him later and jokingly accuse him of lying about the quality! It’s refreshing to see a star be so real.
Jamie Foxx initially had a lot of good things to say about the film and its director, Rob Cohen, playfully describing Cohen as someone who knew how to combine impressive technology with exciting action. He also expressed his respect for the Navy personnel he worked with, pointing out that they are dedicated people performing a challenging and often unappreciated job. Foxx felt the movie highlighted their courage, noting the real-life stakes are much higher than on a movie set – there’s no room for error when defending your country. However, with time, Foxx came to view the film as one of the low points of his career.
Jamie Foxx is making a triumphant return to acting after facing health challenges. His new movie, Back in Action, which marked Cameron Diaz’s return to the screen, launched on Netflix on January 17, 2025, and continues to be a hit around the world. Recently, he was seen at Super Bowl LX in Santa Clara, looking happy and enjoying time with fans and celebrities like Kevin Costner.
Fans are particularly excited about Foxx’s upcoming project: a biopic about Mike Tyson, now developed as a limited series. Jamie Foxx will star as Tyson, with Antoine Fuqua directing and Martin Scorsese as an executive producer. Foxx has spent years preparing for the role, aiming to portray not only Tyson’s famous boxing matches, but also the person behind the public image. Many believe this performance will be a strong contender for awards later this year.
