Filming for the second season of *Peacemaker* is finished, and viewers are eager to find out what happens next with the show’s characters.
After being on hold for over three years, the DC series starring John Cena made a successful return to HBO Max.
The latest season successfully links the show to James Gunn’s reimagined DC Universe, all while maintaining the funny and fast-paced style that fans loved in season one.
Now that the season has ended, everyone’s wondering if there will be a third one. HBO Max hasn’t announced a renewal yet, but that doesn’t necessarily mean the show is over. James Gunn recently told Deadline that the story could continue in some way, even if it’s not as another full season.
He said that while Peacemaker will return, the next chapter might look a little different.
James Gunn announced on the *Peacemaker* podcast that the character Peacemaker will return, and that these characters will appear in future DC Universe projects soon. He hinted that while the show’s future is uncertain, they do have plans for it.
That suggests the characters could appear in other DCU projects before a potential third season.
The *Waller* series is one possibility, announced by James Gunn and Peter Safran as part of their initial plans for DC Studios, dubbed “Chapter One: Gods and Monsters.” The show will center around Viola Davis’ character, Amanda Waller, the tough and uncompromising government official featured in *The Suicide Squad* and *Peacemaker*.
I’ve been hearing about a potential *Waller* series for a while now, ever since James Gunn first mentioned it. DC’s plans have changed a lot since then, of course, but Gunn recently told *People* that the show is still happening. He says it’s been a slow process, but they’re definitely still working on it and intend to move forward with it. It’s good to know it hasn’t been abandoned!
Although a third season of *Peacemaker* hasn’t been officially announced, fans don’t need to worry about the story ending. James Gunn has confirmed that Peacemaker and his team will be back, though their return might not be in the way everyone anticipates.
