Jacob Elordi and Margot Robbie are quickly becoming one of Hollywood’s hottest pairs, and they’ve been sharing details about their challenging time filming Wuthering Heights.
The two Australian actors recently talked about their new project, explaining that the intense connection between their characters – troubled lovers Heathcliff and Catherine – also developed between them personally. In a frank discussion with Fandango, they described how they deeply supported each other emotionally and carefully observed one another during the process.
I was really fascinated by Emerald Fennell’s new film – it dives into a famously complicated relationship, and you can feel the actors really brought that tension to life. I read that Robbie connected with Elordi quickly, because she tends to form strong bonds with her co-stars. She actually said she gets really attached to the people she works with, and gets heartbroken when a project finishes – she just never wants the experience to end, which I totally get!
I noticed I really quickly started feeling a strong connection with my co-star. I think it happened with Jacob too, actually. I just needed to be close to him on set to feel comfortable. It was strange because it started to feel like my character, and it was hard to tell where I ended and the role began – it was like the story was getting into my head!
Robbie described how Jacob Elordi would quietly observe the filming process early on. She remembered him consistently being nearby, but always keeping his distance and focusing on watching Cathy.
By the third day, things had changed, and Robbie realized she was looking for Elordi. She explained, “I started checking to see where he was.” This was the start of a strange feeling – she felt anxious and lost whenever he wasn’t around.
The Oscar-nominated actress was surprisingly shaken by being without him. “I felt completely lost, like a child who’d lost a comforting object,” she explained. Robbie wasn’t sure if this feeling of needing him stemmed from her method acting or simply from her personality.
She wondered if she was really channeling her character, Kathy, or if that’s just how she naturally performs. Elordi quickly reassured her, saying he felt the same intense connection. “We’re both completely captivated by each other,” the Euphoria actor said, agreeing with his Australian counterpart.
Jacob Elordi clearly admires Margot Robbie’s talent, and he described being fascinated by her process while working with her. He said he’d make sure to stay close by – within just a few meters – to observe everything she did, even simple things like how she ate or drank tea. Ultimately, he summed up his feelings by calling her a truly exceptional actor.
Emerald Fennell’s new film, based on Emily Brontë’s classic 1847 novel, is highly anticipated. The movie aims to be a fresh and respectful reimagining of the beloved gothic romance, and with Fennell’s signature dark and visually striking style, it seems like a perfect fit for the story.

Fennell has worked with both Elordi and Robbie before, which helped make this production run smoothly. She previously directed Elordi in the film Saltburn, and Robbie’s company, LuckyChap Entertainment, produced it. This shared history and creative connection likely made collaborating on Wuthering Heights much easier.
Margot Robbie is still a major star, especially after the huge success of the Barbie movie. She’s not just an actress; she’s also become a powerful producer. What really sets her apart is her talent for moving seamlessly between lighthearted comedies and serious, dramatic roles.
As a total cinema fan, I’ve been watching Jacob Elordi’s career explode! He went from being known for teen dramas to really establishing himself in some seriously impressive films. Everyone remembers him as Nate in Euphoria, but his performance as Elvis in Priscilla really showed what he could do. He’s quickly become one of those actors you know can carry a film and really dive into those complicated, intense roles.
The film adaptation of Wuthering Heights boasts a strong supporting cast in addition to its leads. Hong Chau, Shazad Latif, and Alison Oliver will appear, along with experienced actor Martin Clunes and Ewan Mitchell, known for his role in House of the Dragon. This talented group further enhances the project’s appeal.
Those who love the book and its stars won’t have to wait much longer for the movie to come out! It’s hitting theaters just in time for Valentine’s Day, premiering on Friday, February 13th.
