It looks like Battlefield 6 is starting to ban cheaters using Cronus Zen

Electronic Arts (EA) is following through on its promise to crack down on cheaters in Battlefield 6. Screenshots from a cheaters’ Discord server show that EA has begun banning players using the Cronus Zen device. Several banned players have also reported their bans online, warning others not to use the device on PC.

A screenshot circulating online, supposedly showing a ban message, is likely fake. It contains grammatical errors and features the wrong button icon. Additionally, Electronic Arts (EA) doesn’t typically mention specific games or display game logos in ban notices – they usually only include their company logo.

These devices connect to a computer or gaming console and make it seem like a standard controller is being used, even though the player is actually using a keyboard and mouse. This allows them to take advantage of features like aim assistance and reduced weapon recoil, resulting in significantly better aim and an unfair edge over other players.

The creators of a hardware cheat for Battlefield 6 are telling users to pause using it while they figure out how EA is identifying the device. This is a common situation – cheat makers and anti-cheat developers often end up in a back-and-forth battle to outsmart each other. For now, EA has the advantage as long as they keep their detection methods secret.

It’s ironic that the developers of Cronus Zen asked users to keep any bans quiet, saying it would attract unwanted attention and hinder their testing process. However, with the community widely celebrating these bans online and the information spreading rapidly, staying under the radar seems highly unlikely.

EA is already familiar with dealing with the Cronus Zen, as it’s also commonly used in their popular game, Apex Legends.

It’s currently unclear how widespread the ban is. Some users of the Cronus Zen device are reporting on Discord that they haven’t been banned and are still able to use it. EA might only be able to detect the device in certain situations, or they could be issuing bans gradually to avoid mistakenly banning players who aren’t cheating.

Still, cheaters are getting banned and that’s undoubtedly a good thing.
