Deadline is reporting that they might actually move forward with the project, and even better, Scarlett Johansson is potentially in line for a major role! I’m really hoping this finally comes to life – it would be a dream come true!

Disney is revisiting its live-action remake of “Tangled,” starting development again. Sources say Scarlett Johansson is a strong contender to play Mother Gothel. Michael Gracey is expected to direct, and Jennifer Kaytin Robinson will write the screenplay.
While Snow White didn’t perform well in theaters, other live-action Disney remakes like The Little Mermaid, Aladdin, Beauty and the Beast, and even Lilo & Stitch have generally been successful. Tangled, with its popular characters Rapunzel and Flynn Rider, has potential, but finding the right actors for those key roles is crucial. Casting the leads perfectly from the start is essential, because any misstep could lead to a disappointing result, similar to what happened with Snow White.
