Summary
- Los Angeles-based artist Cleon Peterson is teaming up with Avant Arte to release a new sculptural edition, titled “Shame”
- The artwork will be available starting September 17 as a time-limited release via Avant Arte
Cleon Peterson’s work is centered around depicting society’s darker aspects, such as power struggles, corruption, and sexual themes, in a series of chaotic and conflicting monochromatic scenes involving figures. In his latest collaboration with Avant Arte, these flat, graphic representations take on a new dimension, becoming tangible and long-lasting sculptures that embody this image of conflict.
Entitled “Shame,” the resin sculpture is crafted to portray a figure bent over, with hands covering the head while holding a sword firmly into the ground. The sculpture is finished in a matte black, presenting a complex posture that suggests a continuous struggle between inner and outer forces. As this conflict intensifies, “Shame” symbolizes not just hardship but also a chance for reconciliation or redemption.
The artist remarked at the unveiling that “Inside the sensation of embarrassment lies the possibility for metamorphosis, teetering between redemption and hardship.” In this statement, ‘shame’ serves as a catalyst, shaping our inner values, leading us to either growth or ruin.
The “Shame” sculpture, with dimensions of approximately 10.04 inches in length, 9.61 inches in width, and 5.79 inches in height, will be available for purchase exclusively through Avant Arte for a limited time of 48 hours, starting September 17 at 11:00 Central Daylight Time (CDT).
