In partnership with Amalgam Collection, Honda Racing Corporation is celebrating the 60th anniversary of their first Formula 1 triumph by releasing a limited-edition miniature replica of the renowned RA272 (chassis number 103). This legendary vehicle was the one that Richie Ginther piloted to Honda’s inaugural win at the 1965 Mexico Grand Prix, which also represented the first F1 victory for a Japanese car, engine, and team.
Crafted meticulously by Amalgam’s skilled artisans, this model is offered in two variations: a 1:8 scale edition, limited to only 30 units priced at $28,995 USD, and a 1:18 scale version, limited to 300 pieces at $1,735 USD. Each item boasts more than 1,600 carefully designed components, including an accurately replicated 1.5L V12 engine. The purchase includes a display case, an authenticated certificate of authenticity with a unique number, and a memorabilia booklet that carries the signature of Honda Racing Corporation President Koji Watanabe.
The new models will be unveiled at The Quail, a Motorsports Event, on August 15 during Monterey Car Week. These models are created using digital scans of the original RA272 from Honda’s Collection Hall in Motegi, Japan, and they meticulously replicate every authentic detail, including the painted livery and engine components. Honda considers this scale model not just a collectible, but as an opportunity to own a piece of their motorsport history.
