As a devoted Hollow Knight: Silksong fan, I found myself at a standstill after delving deep into the Citadel during Act 2. It seemed like I had reached an impasse since my progression required the Clawline ability to traverse upwards. However, what I failed to notice was that the path forward wasn’t up but down. To reach this subterranean destination, you must first unlock a lift that transports you there. But here’s the catch – that lift remains sealed until you uncover the elusive White Key hidden somewhere within the very heart of the Citadel itself.

White Key location – HK: Silksong

The White Key can be found near the eastern outskirts of Songclave, a quaint town that forms around The First Temple in the northeastern part of the Citadel, once you’ve rung the bell there for the first time. If you continue walking past the temple entrance and go all the way to the end, where your path is barricaded by a fence, you’ll find the White Key on the ground there.

After grabbing it, make your way back down to the base of the Citadel. There, you’ll discover the elevator, use your key to open it, and descend into Whiteward – a compact region serving as a passageway towards the eastern part of the Underworks. It’s here where you can acquire the grappling hook ability that will aid in your advancement.
