This week, you’ll find everything from historical dramas with a supernatural twist to modern mysteries. If you enjoy investigations, there are shows about the latest forensic science techniques and important cases in American law. Plus, some classic animated families are returning, and there are new stories about overcoming challenges in the world of sports. There’s something for everyone!
‘Sword of the Demon Hunter’ (2025)

This anime is set in Japan’s Edo period and tells the story of a young man who becomes a protector, fighting demons. He’s tasked with guarding a priestess and uses a powerful, ancient sword to do so, traveling through different periods in history. The story centers around how a fateful encounter with a demon changes his life, forcing him to confront dangerous spirits. It’s a series that explores ideas about fate and how time affects us, spanning hundreds of years.
‘The Proof Is Out There: UnXplained Edition’ (2025)

This series investigates strange videos and photos, using experts to determine what’s real and what’s fake. Each episode examines unexplained events – from mythical creatures to possible alien sightings – and separates authentic evidence from clever digital tricks. The show uses scientific methods to analyze popular online content, carefully studying visual data to uncover the truth.
‘Forensic Factor: A New Era’ (2023)

This crime series examines the incredible advances in forensic science over the past few decades. It shows how investigators gather and analyze evidence to solve previously unsolved cases. Through interviews with detectives, scientists, and lawyers, the show offers a complete picture of modern crime investigation. Each episode illustrates the careful work needed to build a solid case using DNA and digital evidence.
‘Taking the Stand’ (2022)

This documentary series takes a close look at the intense pressure and strategy involved when someone chooses to testify in their own criminal trial. Using actual courtroom footage, it shows how a defendant’s testimony can change the course of a case and impact the jury’s decision. The series offers a unique and humanizing perspective on the American justice system by focusing on these pivotal moments.
‘Digimon Beatbreak’ (2025)

As a long-time Digimon fan, I’m really excited about the newest installment! It’s got a whole new group of kids who team up with their own unique Digimon, and they’re thrown into a digital world that’s constantly changing and full of danger. What’s cool is they’ve added some fresh fighting styles and expanded the lore, which feels like they’re really building things for a new generation of fans. But at its heart, it’s still the Digimon I love – a story about the incredible connection between humans and their digital partners, told through a series of exciting adventures.
‘Chad Powers’ (2025)

As a huge cinema fan, I recently checked out this really fun series starring Glen Powell. He plays Russ Holliday, a quarterback whose career went south after a scandal. But he’s not giving up! He comes up with this wild plan to disguise himself as ‘Chad Powers’ using prosthetics and tries out for a college football team. It’s hilarious watching him try to fit in with these much younger players while desperately trying to keep his real identity a secret. Powell co-created the show with Michael Waldron, and it’s a great mix of comedy and that classic underdog story we all love, all set within the world of college sports.
‘Universal Basic Guys’ (2024)

This animated comedy follows two brothers from South Jersey who are out of work after losing their jobs to robots. They start receiving a guaranteed monthly income as part of a new program, and the show hilariously explores how they try to find something meaningful to do with their time. With Fred Armisen and the Malamut brothers lending their voices, the series playfully critiques how automation and economic changes are impacting society.
‘Spy x Family’ (2022)

A spy named Twilight is tasked with a dangerous mission: he needs to create a fake family to get into a prestigious school. What he doesn’t realize is that his ‘wife’ is a highly skilled assassin, and their adopted daughter can read minds – meaning she knows both of their secrets! They have to juggle their secret lives while pretending to be a typical family. The series is popular because it mixes thrilling action with funny, touching moments about family life.
‘Vermeil in Gold’ (2022)

This fantasy story centers around a student at a magic school who mistakenly summons Vermeil, a very powerful ancient demon. To exist in the human world, Vermeil needs to bond with the student as a familiar and constantly draw on their magical energy. As they deal with school competitions and fight off dangerous magical creatures, their relationship grows, and a romance begins to develop. The series blends exciting magical battles with a well-developed world and focuses on the characters and their connections.
‘The Simpsons’ (1989)

The Simpsons, the longest-running animated comedy on television, still follows the everyday adventures of the Simpson family in the town of Springfield. Through humorous and often satirical storylines, the show reflects American society and current events. With a large cast of quirky characters, created by Matt Groening, The Simpsons continues to be a relevant part of popular culture, blending slapstick comedy with clever observations after over thirty years.
