This weekend on Hulu, you’ll find a great mix of new shows and movies from 2024-2025, alongside popular recent releases and timeless classics. You can easily switch between exciting new genres, critically acclaimed musicals, and beloved favorites – all in one place.
‘Osiris’ (2025)

A highly skilled Special Forces team finds themselves captured during a mission and wakes up on an alien spaceship. Led by soldier Anya, the remaining team members must battle dangerous creatures and desperately search for a way to escape. The film stars Max Martini, LaMonica Garrett, Brianna Hildebrand, Michael Irby, and Linda Hamilton. Directed and co-written by William Kaufman, this sci-fi action thriller is being released by Vertical and produced with XYZ Films. It’s one of the new releases hitting Hulu this week, making it a great option for fans of science fiction and action movies.
‘The Book of Clarence’ (2024)

This new film, set in Jerusalem, tells the story of Clarence, a man struggling with debt who attempts to improve his life by pretending to be the messiah. Jeymes Samuel wrote, directed, and composed the music for the movie, which stars LaKeith Stanfield alongside a talented cast including Omar Sy, RJ Cyler, Anna Diop, Alfre Woodard, Benedict Cumberbatch, James McAvoy, and David Oyelowo. Jeymes Samuel and Jay-Z are among the film’s producers, and it’s now available to stream on Hulu.
‘The Exorcism’ (2024)

In the new horror film, Russell Crowe plays an actor whose strange on-set behavior leads his daughter to question whether he’s struggling with addiction or if something genuinely supernatural is happening. Written and directed by Joshua John Miller, with a co-writing credit for M.A. Fortin, the movie also stars Sam Worthington, Ryan Simpkins, Chloe Bailey, Adam Goldberg, Adrian Pasdar, and David Hyde Pierce. The film plays with the idea of “cursed” movie productions, drawing on horror lore. It’s being released this week as part of Hulu’s late October/early November lineup of new releases.
‘Christmas Eve in Miller’s Point’ (2024)

As a big movie fan, I recently checked out this heartwarming and funny holiday drama. It’s about an Italian-American family on Long Island, and it really captures those familiar family dynamics – the traditions, the little arguments, and the feeling that this Christmas might be extra special, maybe even their last together. Tyler Thomas Taormina directed it, and he co-wrote the script with Eric Berger. The cast is fantastic, with faces you’ll recognize like Matilda Fleming, Maria Dizzia, Ben Shenkman, Francesca Scorsese, Elsie Fisher, Gregg Turkington, and even Michael Cera! It’s one of the new releases you can find over on Hulu right now.
‘The Color Purple’ (2023)

Blitz Bazawule directed the new movie musical, which is based on both Alice Walker’s novel and the popular Broadway show. Marcus Gardley wrote the screenplay, and the film was produced by a team including Oprah Winfrey, Steven Spielberg, and Quincy Jones. Fantasia Barrino, Danielle Brooks, and Taraji P. Henson star as Celie, Sofia, and Shug Avery, respectively, and the music comes from the original stage production. You can now find it streaming on Hulu as part of their latest releases.
‘The Collective’ (2023)

An action film about a skilled assassin who breaks away from their organization to take down a dangerous human-trafficking network supported by influential people. Directed by Tom DeNucci, the movie stars Lucas Till, Ruby Rose, Tyrese Gibson, Don Johnson, Mercedes Varnado, and Paul Ben-Victor. The script was written by Matt Rogers and Jason James, and Quiver Distribution released the film. It’s currently available as part of Hulu’s new selection of movies.
‘Last Seen Alive’ (2022)

Gerard Butler plays a man whose wife vanishes while at a gas station, leading to a desperate search and uncovering a web of criminal activity. Brian Goodman directed the thriller, written by Marc Frydman, and it also stars Jaimie Alexander, with Russell Hornsby and Ethan Embry appearing in supporting roles. Originally developed under the title ‘Chase’, the film is a new release for fans of the thriller genre.
‘American Murderer’ (2022)

I’m really intrigued by this new film! It’s based on the unbelievable true story of Jason Derek Brown, a con man who was incredibly charming but whose lies eventually started to unravel as the FBI began to catch on. It’s Matthew Gentile’s first time directing a feature film, and the cast is fantastic – Tom Pelphrey is leading things, alongside Idina Menzel, Ryan Phillippe, and a bunch of other great actors like Jacki Weaver and Paul Schneider. I saw it’s one of the new true crime-inspired movies Hulu just added, so I’ll definitely be checking it out.
‘A Star Is Born’ (2018)

Bradley Cooper both directs and stars in this film as a musician struggling with addiction who unexpectedly discovers and falls for a talented singer-songwriter named Ally, played by Lady Gaga. The movie was written by Eric Roth, Bradley Cooper, and Will Fetters, with beautiful visuals captured by Matthew Libatique and skillfully edited by Jay Cassidy. Sam Elliott, Dave Chappelle, and Andrew Dice Clay also appear in the film, which is now available on Hulu as part of their weekly selections, offering more choices for fans of music-driven dramas.
‘Casino’ (1995)

Martin Scorsese’s film, based on a true story, follows the lives of Sam “Ace” Rothstein, a casino executive, his violent friend Nicky Santoro, and the woman caught between them, Ginger McKenna. Starring Robert De Niro, Joe Pesci, and Sharon Stone, the movie is known for its fast-paced editing and striking visuals. Produced by Universal, it’s a signature crime film from the acclaimed director and is now available to stream on Hulu as part of a collection of classic movies.
