
Max has a lot of new movies and shows available this weekend (November 14–16), making it a great time to find something to watch. Several new releases and original programs premiered just this week, on Thursday and Friday. Here are 10 recently added films on Max, focusing on the newest titles and most interesting originals.
‘Eddington’ (2025)

Ari Aster’s new film, set in May 2020, centers on a New Mexico town falling apart, with Sheriff Joe Cross and Mayor Ted Garcia struggling to maintain order. The movie stars Joaquin Phoenix and Pedro Pascal, alongside Emma Stone and Austin Butler. Darius Khondji handled the cinematography, and the music was composed by Bobby Krlic and Daniel Pemberton. After premiering at Cannes in 2025, the film will be available to stream on Max starting Friday, November 14th.
‘One to One: John & Yoko’ (2025)

Kevin Macdonald’s new documentary tells the story of John Lennon and Yoko Ono’s time in New York City, leading up to their 1972 concerts at Madison Square Garden. The film combines restored footage with previously unseen archival material, and was made with the involvement of their son, Sean Ono Lennon. It will first be shown in IMAX theaters in April 2025, then released more widely later that year, and will be available to stream on Max starting November 14th.
‘Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes’ (2024)

Set years after Caesar’s reign, the new film centers on Noa and Mae as they deal with conflicts between ape groups and uncover lost technology, all while living under the leadership of Proximus Caesar. Directed by Wes Ball and starring Owen Teague, Freya Allan, and Kevin Durand, the movie continues the rebooted story, introducing new areas and ape cultures. It will be available on Max starting November 13th. You don’t need to have seen the previous film to understand and enjoy this one – it picks up the story seamlessly.
‘A Man Called Otto’ (2022)

Director Marc Forster brings Fredrik Backman’s heartwarming story to the screen, starring Tom Hanks and Mariana Treviño. The film follows a grieving widower whose carefully ordered life is shaken up by the people around him. With a score by Thomas Newman, it recently became available to stream on Max, making it easy to watch if you didn’t catch it in theaters. It began streaming on November 6th.
‘I Am Curious Johnny’ (2025)

Julien Temple’s film offers a look into the life of Jean “Johnny” Pigozzi, a businessman and photographer, using home videos and photos he’s collected over many years. The film features interviews with notable figures like Mick Jagger, Michael Douglas, Diane von Fürstenberg, and Graydon Carter. It premiered at the Rome Film Fest in October 2025 and is now available to stream on Max this month.
‘Materialists’ (2025)

Celine Song, the director of ‘Past Lives,’ returns with a new film about a matchmaker in New York City. The movie explores the complicated choices her clients make when love, career goals, and social standing collide. It’s a recent 2025 release from A24, now streaming on Max, and is praised for its realistic portrayal of relationships and conversations.
‘Past Lives’ (2023)

Celine Song’s impressive first feature film tells the story of two childhood friends who find each other again in New York City, examining the idea of destiny and how we’re shaped by our past. The film stars Greta Lee, Teo Yoo, and John Magaro and became available on Max on November 2 as part of the platform’s November releases. ‘Dawn of the Planet of the Apes’ (2014)

Ten years after a deadly flu pandemic, Matt Reeves’s latest film follows Caesar’s ape community as they try to coexist peacefully with nearby humans. Andy Serkis reprises his role with groundbreaking performance-capture technology, and the film also stars Jason Clarke, Keri Russell, and Gary Oldman. The movie is now available on Max, along with other films in the series, making it a good time to catch up on the franchise. It became available on the streaming service on November 2nd.
‘The Lego Ninjago Movie’ (2017)

Join Lloyd, the Green Ninja, Master Wu, and their team as they protect Ninjago City from the evil warlord Garmadon in this fun animated movie. Featuring the voices of Dave Franco, Jackie Chan, Justin Theroux, and others, the film—directed by Charlie Bean, Paul Fisher, and Bob Logan—adds to the world of ‘Lego’ movies. It’s one of the new family-friendly titles arriving on Max in November and will be featured in the early November streaming highlights.
‘The Town’ (2010)

Ben Affleck’s crime thriller, set in Boston, is back on Max. He both directs and stars as part of a crew attempting one final heist while being chased by the FBI. The film features strong performances from Jeremy Renner, Rebecca Hall, and Jon Hamm. It’s a well-known addition to the platform’s November lineup, appearing on the 1st, and a good choice if you’re looking for a crime movie this month.
