Here’s a rundown of new movies and shows coming out between November 17th and 23rd: a fun animated film for families, a thoughtful drama, a feel-good music biopic, and an exciting action-comedy sequel. You’ll find the release date and where to watch each title below, along with details about the story, actors, and filmmakers to help you decide what to watch next.
‘The Smurfs’ (2021)

The new CGI Smurfs series arrives on Paramount+ on November 19th. It features Papa Smurf, Smurfette, Brainy, and the rest of the Smurf village going on their own adventures, while still dealing with the mischievous Gargamel and his cat, Azrael. Created by Peyo Productions with Dupuis and others, the show is directed by William Renaud and produced by Véronique Culliford, staying true to Peyo’s original comic books. Originally launched in 2021, the series has been shown around the world, including on Nickelodeon in the U.S., and features 11-minute episodes perfect for younger children and families.
‘Wakefield’ (2017)

The movie Wakefield, starring Bryan Cranston and Jennifer Garner, will be available to stream on Paramount+ starting November 19th. The film tells the story of Howard Wakefield, a lawyer who unexpectedly decides to live in secret in his garage attic, watching his family as they continue their lives. Written and directed by Robin Swicord, it’s based on a short story by E.L. Doctorow, which was itself inspired by Nathaniel Hawthorne. The 108-minute film also features Jason O’Mara and Beverly D’Angelo, and was produced by Mockingbird Pictures with music by Aaron Zigman.
‘Rocketman’ (2019)

Launching November 21 on Paramount+, this movie tells the story of Elton John’s early life and rise to fame. It shows his time at music school and how he met his songwriting partner, Bernie Taupin, all set to his iconic songs. Directed by Dexter Fletcher and written by Lee Hall, the film stars Taron Egerton as Elton John, alongside Jamie Bell, Richard Madden, and Bryce Dallas Howard. The 121-minute film, produced by Marv Films, Rocket Pictures, and New Republic Pictures, uses both original recordings and fresh arrangements of Elton John’s music to trace his journey from childhood to becoming a global superstar.
‘The Family Plan 2’ (2026)

I’m so excited for the new movie coming to Apple TV+ on November 21st! It brings back Mark Wahlberg and Michelle Monaghan as Dan and Jessica Morgan, and their vacation gets totally turned upside down when someone from Dan’s past shows up – it’s Kit Harington! The director from the first movie is back, and it looks like they’ve filmed some amazing scenes in London and Paris. Zoe Colletti and Van Crosby are also returning, along with some new actors. From what I’ve seen, it’s got all the action and humor of the original, with Dan still being a bit of a spy-dad who’s out of his element, but with higher stakes this time around – it seems like the holiday season is on the line!
