This year, Heidi Klum dressed up as Medusa, the famous monster from Greek mythology. Klum was inspired by Medusa’s lasting presence in art and stories, and wanted to create a fresh, contemporary take on the character.
Heidi Klum’s costume was incredibly detailed, featuring mechanical snakes that moved on her head and a specially-made, split snake tongue created by special effects artist Mike Marino. It took nine hours of makeup to complete the look. “I love how each snake moves on its own—it looks so realistic!” Klum shared. “I enjoy a good challenge, and I always try to top my previous costumes.”

Heidi complimented her team, praising their energy and imagination, and saying they have the same passion for spooky themes as she does. She described them as being like ‘kids having fun with a box of crayons.’
