The new He-Man game, He-Man and the Masters of the Universe: Dragon Pearl of Destruction, is coming out soon, and we finally know when!
The latest trailer reveals the classic-style fighting game will be available digitally on April 28, 2026 – also known as MOTU Day! You can watch the trailer here.
The game releases on PC, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.
Story Details Revealed
The trailer reveals the story’s central conflict: As Eternia gets ready to celebrate the Royal Festival of Light, a surprise attack by Hover Bots targets the palace. During the chaos, Skeletor and his forces capture King Randor and Queen Marlena, making off with the valuable Dragon Pearl.
Skeletor attacks Castle Grayskull and steals the Sorceress’s power, trapping it inside a magical Pearl. When the Pearl breaks, its energy scatters across Eternia, leaving the Sorceress vulnerable. He-Man, Teela, and Man-at-Arms embark on a journey to defeat Skeletor and save the kingdom.
As a total movie and gaming nerd, here’s how I’d put it: this game’s story feels like a classic 16-bit sword-and-sorcery adventure, and it’s clearly a love letter to everything Masters of the Universe – seriously, they’ve packed in four decades of that awesome stuff!
Arcade Combat Across Eternia
Dragon Pearl of Destruction delivers classic side-scrolling gameplay. Players fight their way through 12 levels based on well-known areas from Eternia, using a mix of close-combat attacks, magical powers, and unique character abilities.
I’m really impressed with how the game looks – the pixel art is fantastic, and the environments are so detailed! Each chapter builds to these huge boss fights, and you’re constantly battling Skeletor’s forces, which makes it super challenging and exciting.
Two-player co-op returns, letting fans team up locally to take on the campaign together.
A 40-Year Tribute to He-Man
Bitmap Bureau created the game, and Limited Run Games is handling its release. The game’s visuals are intentionally designed with a classic 16-bit style, reminiscent of the original He-Man cartoons, comics, and toys.
Fans of He-Man and Eternia now have a definite date to look forward to: Dragon Pearl of Destruction will be released on April 28, 2026. The game promises a classic, action-packed experience reminiscent of the original series.
