After an extensive search, he was chosen along with Arabella Stanton (to play Hermione Granger) and Alastair Stout (Ron Weasley) for the highly-anticipated HBO Original Series adaptation of Harry Potter. In a recent interview regarding his upcoming role in this drama, which announced filming on July 14th, McLaughlin shared limited details without giving too much away. Roughly 11 years old, the star expressed that putting on the iconic role was somewhat surreal for him as he was an ardent fan of Harry Potter during his younger days and it was always a dream role. He shared his excitement about being able to play this part.
In September 2024, it’s been announced that Dominic McLaughlin will star in a major role, taking over from Daniel Radcliffe, who was almost synonymous with the character bearing the lightning bolt mark – the Dark Mark. This is McLaughlin’s first film appearance, which he shares with Nick Frost, who portrays Hagrid in the upcoming Harry Potter series.
