Fans are upset to learn that HBO Max will be removing several DC animated movies from its streaming service. Starting October 31st, these titles will no longer be available: *Batman and Superman: Battle of the Super Sons*, *The Death of Superman*, *Reign of the Supermen*, *Superman/Batman: Public Enemies*, *Superman: Man of Tomorrow*, *Superman: Red Son*, and *Superman: Unbound*.
Although not as widely known as some other DC stories, *Superman: Unbound* and *Batman and Superman: Battle of the Super Sons* are both critically acclaimed. Both titles have earned a perfect 100% score on Rotten Tomatoes, indicating that reviewers enjoyed their stories and animation.
It’s not unusual for HBO Max to remove DC shows and movies. Streaming services often do this because of things like licensing deals, controlling costs, or getting ready to release content elsewhere. While it’s annoying for viewers, it’s a standard practice as companies manage their finances and streaming rights.
As a critic, I have to say the decision to remove these titles is a bit puzzling. They weren’t necessarily huge hits, but they were genuinely loved by dedicated DC fans and those who appreciate great animation. Honestly, their removal will definitely leave a hole in the platform’s superhero offerings, and I think a lot of viewers will notice.
