HAVEN’s Denim Drop Is Rooted in Heritage and History

At the heart of every delivery from HAVEN lies exceptional craftsmanship, but it truly stands out in their recent release of denim items, hailing from their Vancouver location.

HAVEN’s Washed Suvin Cotton Denim collection, created right within the core of Japan’s denim industry in Kojima, Okayama, reflects and honors the area’s one-hundred-year tradition of textile craftsmanship and artisanal methods.

Offering a clean variant of Suvin Cotton Selvedge Denim, HAVEN’s unique take on Selvedge offers a soft texture and ensures a breathable, comfortable fit.

Every piece undergoes an initial hand-sanding stage that sets the foundation for the denim’s ultimate texture and color; craftsmen sand the material at key areas such as the front whiskers and behind the knees, creating a three-dimensional “hachinosu” or beehive appearance.

Later on, I find myself witnessing a process that gives garments a worn-in feel. First, an electric planer delicately scrapes off layers from the fabric’s surface, creating a broken-in effect. Afterward, they undergo an enzyme wash which subtly softens the shape and fades it even further.

After the garment has been fully dried, intricate hand-made details are added for completion, followed by a gentle bleaching touch to complete the extensive production process. Delve deeper into the creation of this collection by exploring the lookbook provided.

On this coming Friday, May 23rd at 1 p.m. Pacific Standard Time, you can purchase the new line of Washed Suvin Cotton Denim from HAVEN directly through their official website.
