EDGLRD, the creative and tech studio by Harmony Korine, is introducing a separate gaming branch, aptly named EDGLRD Games. Their debut project is a fast-paced first-person shooter game titled Tamashika.
According to EDGLRD, the heart of this sensory-rich game lies in speed, accuracy, and smooth movement. Players are thrown into a maze that’s randomly generated, equipped with a semi-automatic pistol, a tanto knife, and skills like parrying, teleportation, and astral projection as per the description. The game is less about traditional gaming and more about an immersive audiovisual experience, combining hand-drawn animations, meticulous sound design, and a rhythmic, unpredictable flow state.
With Tamashika, Korine aspires to revolutionize the way gamers perceive their gaming experience, much like how iconic games such as Wipeout and GTA have done. As Wipeout established the benchmark for immersion, and GTA reshaped the concept of player autonomy, Tamashika is poised to pioneer the next phase of sensory gaming. According to Korine, our games are designed to be intuitive, characterized by speed, fluidity, and captivation. As stated by Korine, “Tamashika strives to push the boundaries of sensory experiences. In the non-gaming world, Director Korine is preparing for the New York City debut of his latest movie, titled Baby Invasion. This special screening will take place at Knockdown Center on March 21st. The event features EDGLRD transforming the gaming-inspired film with live DJ performances, followed by sets from Eyedress and Yves Tumor.
