Upon the publication of “Curves for Days” by Laura Moher, I didn’t anticipate how deeply enamored I would become with that book, its setting, and its cherished characters. Entering “Hard to Get,” my enthusiasm was definitely justified.
Apart from the fact that the small town is incredibly beautiful, it’s also serving as an unofficial dating agency. Although it may sound amusing, the abundance of couples in this series is remarkable and one of its most captivating aspects.
In addition to the variety in physical build, age, and cultural backdrop, each romance novel offers a fresh perspective. Consequently, I anticipated I’d appreciate “Hard to Get” due to this diversity. However, it surpassed my expectations in the most delightful manner.
It’s great that Sourcebooks Casablanca brought this book to my attention and provided me with an Advanced Reader Copy (ARC), allowing me to read it ahead of time.
Hard to Get is a surprisingly romantic romp from Laura Moher.
If you prefer not to learn about the storyline of this book, I’d recommend departing now, since we’ll need to discuss a crucial plot point. For those who have read the synopsis, you’ll recognize that the narrative revolves around Andi and her encounters with the newcomer in town, Kevin. Andi is quite open about her intentions with him, which are limited to casual relationships, as her grandmother had warned them both that they’d face misfortune when it comes to romantic entanglements.
It turns out that Andi and Kevin cross paths once more, but not in the way one might expect following their passionate encounter. With Andi becoming pregnant from their night together, they both find themselves entangled in this unexpected situation while attempting to manage their relationship. Notably, Kevin is a teacher, while Andi works at a local shelter for victims of domestic violence.
As a cinema enthusiast, I must commend “This Is Us” for its thoughtful approach to storytelling, particularly with the romance between Moher and Andi. Unlike some shows that hurry through relationships, this one takes its time, allowing characters like Andi to grow and learn trust – a decision I truly appreciate. Initially, it might seem like they should have gotten together sooner, but once they do, you can’t help but feel like shouting at the screen: “Why didn’t you two notice the palpable chemistry between you?” It’s a testament to the writers’ skill that they managed to make their eventual union feel so satisfying and inevitable.
Although this book tackles heavy themes like pregnancy, domestic violence, and parental abandonment, it’s filled with hope and romance. Just make sure your mindset is suitable before diving in, but if you’re a fan of Laura Moher’s previous works, you’ll find Hard to Get delightful.
Hard to Get by Laura Moher is out now where books are sold.
