Gwyneth Paltrow returned to the Academy Awards looking stunning, but her dress caused her some pain. The 53-year-old actress wore a custom-made Giorgio Armani gown that had to be fitted very carefully for her red carpet appearance.
In a new behind-the-scenes video on her Goop YouTube channel called Getting Ready with Gwyneth, the actress showed how much work goes into getting ready for an event. While talking to her daughter, Apple, who is 21, Paltrow explained the challenges of getting her outfit just right.
She described how the elegant, white, strapless dress fit so perfectly that it had to be carefully fastened around her before she left for the event. Because it was tailored so precisely, the actress had to forgo comfort throughout the entire ceremony.

Gwyneth Paltrow told her daughter the dress was so tight, she wouldn’t be able to move comfortably or even use the restroom while at the event. She jokingly mentioned this while getting ready, saying she’d have to hold it the entire night.
From the front, the dress looked simple and white. However, when viewed from the side, it featured dramatic, high slits on both sides, revealing sheer pants underneath. This unexpected detail and a flash of skin immediately became a major talking point at the event on March 15th.
Gwyneth Paltrow presented the award for Best Casting, and her recent film, Marty Supreme, was nominated in that category. The movie, directed by Josh Safdie, signaled a return to acting for Paltrow after she’d spent time building her lifestyle brand.
The movie was a strong awards season contender, receiving nine nominations, including Best Picture and Best Actor for Timothée Chalamet. However, public attention surprisingly focused on Gwyneth Paltrow’s appearance and a minor mishap with her wardrobe backstage, overshadowing the film’s critical acclaim.
The actress has been facing a lot of harsh criticism online, with people focusing heavily on her appearance. Those close to her say the negativity has gone beyond simple comments about her style and has become deeply personal and hurtful.
I remember watching Gwyneth arrive on the red carpet – you could just tell she was going to turn heads. But honestly, nobody predicted the level of reaction she got! A source close to her team told me the public response was way more intense and negative than they ever thought possible.
According to the same source, the change in attention has been especially challenging for the founder of Goop. They explained, “Online, people quickly stopped talking about the dress and started focusing on her body, and dealing with that much attention has been hard for her.”
In addition to her recent film role, Gwyneth Paltrow is working to reignite her acting career while continuing to build her successful businesses. Her new movie, Marty Supreme, stars Tyler, the Creator and Odessa A’zion and offers a fictional look into the world of competitive ping-pong.
Since its release earlier this year, the film has proven Josh Safdie’s talent as a director and become a box office success for A24. Timothée Chalamet’s performance in the lead role has received significant acclaim, helping the film gain popularity around the world.
Gwyneth Paltrow has been growing her brand, Goop, with wellness retreats and a new collection of natural beauty products. She continues to be a well-known influencer in the lifestyle world, frequently sharing her thoughts on health, fashion, and the process of aging.
Beyond her work, she’s prioritized her family, and her children, Apple and Moses, have frequently appeared in promotions for her company, Goop. Her recent acting choices hint that she’s interested in roles with more complex characters going forward.
