Guy Ritchie Set To Direct ‘Road House 2’ Starring Jake Gyllenhaal

Summary

  • Guy Ritchie is directing Road House 2 for Amazon MGM Studios
  • Jake Gyllenhaal returns as Dalton, the ex-UFC fighter
  • Road House was originally a reboot of the 1989 classic starring Patrick Swayze

In simple terms, the upcoming film project by Guy Ritchie will be a sequel to “Road House”, and it will be produced by Amazon MGM Studios, with Jake Gyllenhaal set to star in it.

Jake Gyllenhaal has officially signed on to play Dalton once more, a character who used to be a UFC fighter. This film marks the third project that Ritchie and Gyllenhaal have worked together on, following their previous collaboration for “The Covenant”. The studio behind this new venture is also the same one they partnered with Ritchie for “The Covenant”. Will Beall has penned the script for the sequel. As of now, details about the storyline for the second “Road House” movie are being tightly guarded. However, the production team will include Atlas Entertainment’s Charles Roven and Alex Gartner, as well as Gyllenhaal through his Nine Stories Productions along with Josh McLaughlin. Ivan Atkinson will serve as an executive producer.

Initially, the movie trailed Gyllenhall’s persona, battling financial hardships. Despite appearing to get a reprieve when a Florida Keys roadhouse owner discovers him slumbering in his vehicle and hires him as the club’s bouncer, misfortune persistently dogged him. He became entangled in conflicts between outlaws and bikers. The studio revealed plans for a sequel last summer during its early development phases. When the original movie debuted on Prime Video last March, it shattered viewership records for the streaming service, drawing nearly 80 million viewers worldwide. Originally conceived as a remake of the 1989 film featuring Patrick Swayze with an identical title.

The sequel does not yet have a release date.
