Grey’s Anatomy recap: Moving forward

This recap contains SPOILERS for Grey’s Anatomy Season 21, episode 15 “Bust Your Windows.”

Ben asks Bailey for help in preparing for his exams, only to realize that flashcards aren’t appropriate when proposing a date to his wife. He tries to be friends with Taryn but she keeps rejecting him, claiming she’s too busy. However, they work together on treating a young patient at the hospital, transforming a frightening experience into an exciting superhero adventure. Later, Ben questions Taryn about her cold behavior and she explains that since Levi left, she has been overburdened with work, both at the hospital and at home. When she mentions needing someone to study with, Ben steps up and offers his help, which she reluctantly accepts.

Winston and Jules hurriedly arrive at the site where a window cleaner accidentally broke through a big glass panel. Once they manage the situation and transport him to surgery, Jules urges him to contact neurology when they detect a blood clot obstructing the patient’s brain flow. He manually removes the clot, and after considering the considerable difference in age between the patient and his spouse, Jules and he find themselves on the rooftop. There’s an understanding between them. Both sense it. On their descent to check on their patient, Weber looks at them warily. He’s well-versed in the various mischiefs that occur at this hospital. He never misses a beat.

Simone and Blue are having a disagreement, typical among roommates, due to Blue’s sudden decision to let a friend stay without informing Simone first. Despite helping Weber attend to a patient whose mother was injured in an incident involving a window, their argument irritates Weber so much that he warns them they might be dismissed from the operating room. Later, Blue confesses he’s still grieving over Molly, and Simone apologizes for subjecting him to public displays of affection with Lucas. As the day ends, she is on the verge of asking Lucas to move back in when he surprises her with good news and impulsively starts mapping out their future, including the potential of relocating from Seattle. Seeing this, she invites him for dinner instead.

As a movie reviewer, I found myself immersed in the tale of Lucas, a determined yet green intern, eagerly accompanying Catherine on a challenging patient care assignment. With Weber’s guidance elusive, this was his one shot at impressing the only individual capable of advancing his remediation.

Throughout the day, Lucas stumbled and fumbled, still learning the intricacies of patient care as an intern. But when Bailey expressed concern about performing a seemingly outdated procedure and Catherine concurred, Lucas vowed to find a more modern approach. Catherine challenged him to make good on his word.

In search of an alternative procedure, he found one that Bailey allowed him to lead. However, as fate would have it, he was paged for another critical procedure, forcing him to walk away from what could have been a life-altering opportunity. Later, Lucas apologized to Catherine, only for her to remind him that his questionable judgment was the very reason she advocated for his delay in advancement. Yet, his demonstration of sound judgment in opting for the emergency case over his initial procedure ultimately granted him the green light to progress with the rest of his residency class.

As we’re down to just three episodes remaining this season, it seems like things are about to get decidedly intriguing. Here’s hoping for some exciting action!
