The film, starring Daniel Craig as detective Benoit Blanc and a fantastic cast, features a score by Nathan Johnson – who also happens to be Rian Johnson’s cousin. Mutant’s Wake Up Dead Man Deluxe Limited Edition Vinyl Soundtrack Release Pleases the Ear and Eye

Mutant, working with Cut Narrative and Netflix, is releasing a vinyl version of Nathan Johnson’s atmospheric score for Wake Up Dead Man, the new Knives Out mystery. The soundtrack perfectly complements the film’s dark and gothic tone, and this vinyl release captures its haunting beauty. You’ll be able to fully experience every detail of the music, which draws you into the story of a troubled church in upstate New York and the secrets it holds. This deluxe, limited-edition vinyl is sure to send shivers down your spine.
Let me tell you, this Wake Up Dead Man vinyl soundtrack is something special. The music itself, by Nathan, is deeply moving without ever feeling depressing – it perfectly captures the unique atmosphere of this fantastic murder mystery series. But it’s not just the music that impressed me. Mutant really knocked it out of the park with the artwork by Randy Ortiz. Seeing Josh O’Connor’s character, this troubled priest, placed within a Renaissance-style painting is just brilliant. And the way Ortiz reimagines the Pietà with all those blindfolded figures? Seriously chilling. Trust me, this Wake Up Dead Man vinyl isn’t just for listening to; it’s a piece you’ll want to proudly display.
Composer Nathan Johnson Shares More About the Wake Up Dead Man Soundtrack

Beyond what we’ve said, composer Nathan Johnson shares insights into the amazing music he created for Wake Up Dead Man, and details this new vinyl release from Mutant.
Composer Nathan Johnson describes his work on the Wake Up Dead Man soundtrack, explaining that Rian Johnson consistently pushes creative boundaries with each new Benoit Blanc mystery. He notes that Rian avoids repeating himself, and this extends to the music as well. Knives Out featured a sharp string quartet evoking a confined New England estate, while Glass Onion used a rich orchestral sound inspired by the Greek islands. This time, Johnson aimed for a darker, gothic feel reminiscent of Edgar Allan Poe. The soundtrack opens with a jarring sound – an entire violin section creating a harsh, dissonant scrape before settling into a single, clear note. This contrast between unpleasant and beautiful sounds, Johnson says, is a central theme of the score, reflecting the complex and flawed characters and ultimately culminating in a ten-minute violin concerto and a poignant revelation.

The beautiful emotions evoked by the music deserve a tangible keepsake. Nathan Johnson, speaking about the vinyl release of Mutant’s Wake Up Dead Man soundtrack, shared his excitement, saying, “It’s always a privilege to collaborate with Mutant, and I’m delighted to finally offer fans this special physical edition. I hope you enjoy listening to it as much as we enjoyed creating it.”
We have no doubt.
