Garance Vallée Looks to the Future With “2093” Collection

The Paris-based architect and designer, Garance Vallée, recently introduced her initial line of furniture, consisting of five unique items that draw inspiration from a near-future setting.

The “2093” collection, created in collaboration with gallery Monde Singulier, showcases an assortment that includes a lamp, armchair, candelabra, console, and bed. Each item provides a striking contrast against the backdrop of a soft carpet and drapes adorned with a moire pattern, creating a silver-toned setting.

In simpler terms, Vallée expresses that he intended to expose the tender, private area of the bedroom as if peering into the immediate future. This, he describes, is like a visionary dream infused with his personal history.

As an enthusiast, I crafted a cozy wooden enclosure tailored to fit my personalized mattress. Inside this sturdy structure, I integrated metal-lined niches that function as stylish shelves on the headboard and a practical tray for my treasured trinkets on the side.

Consistently, you’ll find identical metallic elements throughout several items within this collection. The console table showcases brushed metal on its legs, which functionally serve as small storage units, whereas the lamp incorporates the same material predominantly on its main frame. The lampshade, however, is made from frosted glass.

The chair’s ensemble is enlivened with two colors – a rich, deep red adorning its arms, achieved through lacquering, and a delicate baby blue gracing the top surface of the console, made from leather.

The candelabra completes the 2093 assortment. Made from black metal, it presents a more robust appearance in terms of both its material and color, yet the flowing contours of its individual arms give it a softer feel.

2093 was exhibited at this year’s Milan Design Week, an event wrapping up on April 13th. Catch the latest updates here. (Link provided)
