Fyre Festival 2 Has Been Officially Postponed

Two months prior to its scheduled date, it was announced that Fyre Festival 2 has been pushed back. A notification was sent to ticket buyers informing them of a full refund and assuring them the event will take place at a future time instead.

Following the disastrous 2017 edition, the festival developed an unfavorable image. Originally planned for Mexico from May 30 to June 2, Billy McFarland, the founder, unveiled the follow-up event with the same name. However, according to ABC News, organizers have delayed the event and promised a new date. They’ve also issued refunds to ticket holders, stating that they can repurchase tickets when the new date is announced if it suits their schedule.

McFarland served nearly four years in prison following his conviction on wire fraud charges, having swindled investors out of approximately $27.4 million for the initial Fyre Festival. Due to its tainted image, the second festival encountered a bumpy beginning as the Isla Mujeres authorities confirmed that no permit was available when tickets were being marketed in February. Ticket prices for Fyre Festival 2 ranged from $1,400 for general admission to $5,000 for VIP access and an astounding $25,000 for artist access. For a hefty sum of $1.1 million, attendees could secure the Prometheus God of Fyre package, designed for eight individuals, offering exclusive amenities, a four-stateroom yacht, and round-the-clock personal chauffeur service. The festival had boasted that this package was already sold out.

So far, no new date has been confirmed for Fyre Festival 2.
