Older actors, such as Sir Ian McKellen, show an undying passion for discussing their roles, even when the movie is as highly anticipated as a new Lord of the Rings film. In this case, McKellen has been sharing information about the upcoming Lord of the Rings production, The Hunt for Gollum. Initially, he hinted at his own potential return as Gandalf in the new movie, and now he’s revealing another exciting piece of news: Frodo will be back alongside Gandalf in The Hunt for Gollum. It’s great to know that Frodo and Gandalf will reunite on screen, but we wonder if Elijah Wood, the original actor who portrayed Frodo, will also return for this new production. Despite his typically secretive nature, the thought of his involvement certainly gets us excited!

Ian McKellen hinted at some information regarding The Hunt for Gellum movie, particularly about the characters Frodo and Gandalf being involved. However, he didn’t reveal much else. Fans will surely be excited about this potential casting news, with many wondering if Elijah Wood might return to the Lord of the Rings franchise for The Hunt for Gollum.
It’s safe to say that we hadn’t given much thought initially about Elijah Wood potentially reprising his role as Frodo Baggins in The Lord of the Rings universe, specifically in The Hunt for Gollum. Looking back, it was quite shortsighted of us. Elijah Wood’s portrayal of Frodo is a cherished icon in popular culture. Not only has he been adored for his role as Frodo, but also for his diverse choices in acting roles post-Lord of the Rings, such as in Yellowjackets and The Toxic Avenger.
Usually, we’d argue for leaving a good thing alone. However, considering the strong bond the Lord of the Rings cast seems to share, and their apparent fondness for the world they inhabited together, it would be delightful to see Elijah Wood back as Frodo in The Hunt for Gollum. Alternatively, we’d also welcome another actor stepping into the role with equal enthusiasm.
Besides discussing Frodo and Gandalf’s roles in “The Hunt for Gollum”, McKellen also hinted at a piece of news regarding the upcoming “Lord of the Rings” film. He casually mentioned, “I’ve heard there’s going to be another Middle-earth movie in production, set to begin filming in May. It seems this one will be directed by Gollum and will primarily focus on his story.
To us, “Directed by Gollum and All About Gollum” stands out as an exceptional title for “The Hunt for Gollum.
