Focal Launches ‘Bathys MG’ Audiophile Wireless Headphones

As a gaming enthusiast, I’m thrilled about the latest reveal from Focal – the Bathys MG. These aren’t just any headphones; they’re top-tier, high-fidelity cans that signify a leap forward in their wireless lineup.

The recently launched “Bathys MG” headphones come in a rich chestnut brown hue, borrowing its color scheme from another renowned model by Focal, the “Clear MG”. To ensure ultimate comfort, Focal has incorporated high-quality real leather on the headbands and ergonomic foam cushions within the ear cups. The majority of the frame is constructed from lightweight yet sturdy aluminum and magnesium.

Within their own operations, Focal has discovered additional applications for magnesium, employing it in the crafting of the speaker drivers within their headphones. These French-made drivers boast ‘M’-shaped domes, a feature that, according to Focal, allows listeners to enjoy “naturally vivid, dynamic, and exceptionally detailed” high-fidelity sound without any wires. Furthermore, Focal has incorporated active noise cancellation (ANC) into the Bathys MG, blending top-tier audiophile-grade audio with a more engrossing experience through ANC technology.

These headphones boast Bluetooth 5.2 technology along with multipoint connectivity, allowing for seamless wireless use. Impressively, when operated wirelessly, the battery life stretches up to 30 hours, extendable to 42 hours using the USB-DAC mode. Additionally, they support fast-charging – only a 15-minute charge offers 5 hours of playback. Codecs like SBC, AAC, aptX Adaptive, and aptX are compatible with these headphones. Weighing only 350g, they are lightweight, and Focal includes a sturdy, tonal rigid carrying case (also available in chestnut brown) for safe travel.

Focal’s Bathys MG headphones launch in April and will be priced at £999 GBP / $1,299 USD.
