The first images of Charlie Cox as Daredevil in Season 2 of Born Again are here, and Empire magazine’s 2026 preview reveals that Marvel is essentially starting the series over with a fresh beginning.
The latest image reveals Matt Murdock wearing his black suit by the water at night. The suit has a tougher, more armored design, which seems to align with the overall style Marvel is going for with the series.
Season 2 Has “Total Freedom”
Sana Amanat, a producer on the show, explained to Empire that Season 2 is a fresh start, allowing the writers complete creative control after the difficulties and changes experienced during Season 1’s production.
“The landscape was open, and that was so liberating,” she said. “We can do whatever we want.”
As we reported first, the show’s first season was originally planned differently, downplaying key aspects of the original Netflix series. But Season 2 gets back to what fans loved: a direct conflict between Daredevil and Kingpin, with the fate of Hell’s Kitchen hanging in the balance, and a grittier, more realistic feel.

Matt Murdock’s New Mission
As reported by Empire, Matt begins Season 2 recovering from a gunshot wound he took while protecting Wilson Fisk—surprisingly, the very man trying to destroy their city. This injury, combined with Kingpin’s growing power, makes Matt reconsider his approach to defending Hell’s Kitchen.
He’s creating a group to take the law into their own hands, becoming more involved in the dangerous conflicts happening on the streets, despite his failing health.

Kingpin Rules New York
Vincent D’Onofrio returns as Wilson Fisk, now the Mayor of New York City. He’s launched a program called the “Safer Streets Initiative” to target masked vigilantes. This season explores Fisk’s motivations and goals now that he’s achieved a position of power.
Amanat hints the story will explore how dangerous Fisk becomes when power stops being enough.

Jessica Jones Returns
Krysten Ritter returns as Jessica Jones, and this time, she’s involved because the case hits close to home, not as part of a team. According to Amanat, Ritter’s character provides a much-needed dose of wit and sarcasm to balance out the generally serious mood of Daredevil.
Her presence confirms Marvel is slowly rebuilding the street-level corner fans actually like.
Born Again… Again
With a moodier look for Cox, a focus on street-level action, and Ritter’s return, Season 2 delivers the continuation fans have been hoping for after years of waiting.
Season 2 is set to premiere on Disney+ in March 2026.
