As a gamer who appreciates the raw and honest side of artists, Ferg’s latest album “DAROLD” has left me both moved and inspired. The song “Pool,” with its hauntingly poignant lyrics about child molestation, is not just another track on an album; it’s a testament to the resilience of the human spirit.
Ferg’s newest album, titled “DAROLD,” has just been released. It made its debut last Friday, November 8th. One of the songs on the album is called “Pool,” and it delves into his experiences of being molested at the age of nine in a swimming pool.
Interestingly, it’s not common for a rapper to openly discuss child molestation, but Ferg sees potential in the song as a means of assistance for others.
During my latest visit to The Breakfast Club, I shared an insight: it required eight long years for me to pen the piece titled ‘Pool.’ This journey began with the creation of three songs that served as stepping stones towards my ultimate goal. One of these songs was ‘We Don’t Judge,’ while another was ‘Innocent Child,’ a compilation of three distinct tales about three unique individuals. The final story, you see, was my own.
Later on, Ferg shared that a friend of his motivated him to reveal more about his personal journey. He said, “We were in the recording studio, and he told me, ‘Dude, you’re edging closer to it in the song ‘Innocent Child,’ but what you truly need to do is fully immerse yourself and let loose.’
Later on, Ferg opened up about the challenges he encountered in his childhood, yet he opted to keep most of the specifics to himself. Instead, he suggested that people should listen to the song. At 36 years old, he disclosed an incident where he was inappropriately touched by an older person when others were present. Upon sharing this with his cousin initially, he eventually confided in his mother, who responded with surprise and regret.
Regarding Ferg’s latest album, you might observe that he has chosen to forego the “A$AP” from his moniker. Ferg clarified that this decision was made so that his future projects could be seen as independent works, rather than tied to the A$AP rap group. He further mentioned that the name change represents a fresh chapter in his musical journey.
You can see Ferg talk about his experience as a child above at the 11:43 mark.
