Every Shocking Death and Near-Miss in ‘Stranger Things’ 5 Part 2 Fans Won’t Forget

Good news for Stranger Things fans – the final part of Season 5 is now streaming on Netflix! These episodes are full of intense action, touching scenes, and unexpected surprises as the show heads towards its conclusion.

As a huge fan, I was on the edge of my seat during the last few episodes of Stranger Things! So many characters were in real danger, and honestly, some of their fates were heartbreaking. If you’re like me and need to know exactly who made it and who didn’t, I’ve put together a rundown of all the deaths and near-death experiences from Episodes 5 through 7. Just a warning: major spoilers are ahead!

1. Axel and Kali’s Friends

Episode 5 really hit me hard. We finally learn more about Kali’s history, and it’s devastating. Through a flashback, you see how much trauma she went through in Dr. Kay’s lab, especially when her friend Axel is suddenly and violently shot. It’s heavily suggested that the other kids she grew up with – Mick, Funshine, and Dottie – suffered the same fate during that operation. It’s a really tough watch, honestly, and explains so much about why Kali is the way she is.

This scene shows both the hardships Kali experienced as a child and how dangerous the lab’s experiments were, highlighting the sad consequences for those who weren’t even the main focus.

2. Dr. Kay’s Scientists

In Episode 5, Kali makes a daring escape from those holding her captive, powerfully breaking her bonds. During the escape, she kills two scientists in the lab.

3. Derek’s Family (Visions)

In Episode 5, Henry tricks Derek with disturbing illusions, even though Derek’s family is actually still alive. Derek experiences visions of his mother, father, and sister Tina being killed.

This disturbing act is a deliberate attempt to frighten Derek and force him to obey Henry.

4. Dr. Kay’s Soldiers

Okay, so Episode 6 really ratchets up the tension. Henry, still pulling the strings, sends those terrifying Demodogs after Max at the hospital, and things immediately go south. It’s brutal – we see two soldiers try to stop them, but they’re completely overwhelmed. Honestly, it’s a shocking scene that really drives home just how powerful and dangerous these creatures have become. It’s not a pretty sight, and it definitely left me on the edge of my seat.

5. Demodogs

During a frantic pursuit through the hospital, three Demodogs almost caught up to Lucas and Max in the elevator. Luckily, an oxygen tank suddenly exploded, destroying the creatures immediately.

6. The Man in the Mine

In episode 6, we learn more about Henry’s history through a flashback. Holly and Max watch as a young Henry has a tense encounter with a scientist inside a mine. The scientist, clearly frightened and desperate, points a gun at Henry while clutching a briefcase. They fight, and Henry ends up killing the scientist by hitting him with a rock.

7. Jonathan and Nancy

Okay, so things get really crazy after Nancy takes a shot at that weird atomic stuff. Both she and Jonathan are sent flying, completely knocked out. When they come to, it’s like something out of a nightmare – they’re stuck in a room that’s literally dissolving around them. The walls and floor aren’t just damaged, they’re melting, and it’s happening fast. It’s a seriously unsettling visual and sets a really claustrophobic, panicked tone.

The situation was incredibly dangerous, but luckily the ice stopped melting just when they needed it to, saving them from being stuck permanently. Dustin and Steve arrived just in time to help them get out.

8. Eleven, Hopper, and Kali

After the strange event with the atomic matter, a rip appeared in the wall between our world and the Upside Down. This created a strong pull, sucking everything nearby into the tear. Eleven immediately realized how dangerous the situation was and used her powers to protect herself and her friends.

Using her abilities, she leads the group safely through the dangerous area and back to Hawkins via a distant portal, proving once more how essential her powers are for saving her friends from harm.

9. Steve

Steve almost fell from a great height while trying to find Nancy and Jonathan. The staircase was melting, and he was using a ladder to cross a dangerous gap. Fortunately, Dustin quickly grabbed him, saving him from a potentially deadly fall.

10. Will

When Will entered Henry’s mind, he became stuck in a confusing and perilous state, lost between different points in time and unable to move or defend himself. Luckily, Eleven sensed the danger and used her powers to pull Will out, saving him from a potentially fatal situation.

11. Max

Max’s life is in danger when Henry finds her and Holly as they attempt to break free from his mental trap. In a terrifying scene, Henry almost succeeds in killing Max, but Will manages to enter Henry’s mind just in time, giving Max and Holly the opportunity they need to escape.

12. Lucas, Max, Vickie, and Robin

While in the hospital, the group is chased by Demodogs unleashed by Henry. The hospital becomes a scene of chaos as these dangerous creatures rampage through the corridors.

Because Karen acted fast and everyone else reacted quickly, they managed to escape the Demodogs without getting hurt.

13. Holly

Throughout the series, Holly faces several incredibly dangerous situations. She narrowly avoids falling into a mine, survives a fall from a great height after escaping The Abyss, is pulled back towards The Abyss by Henry, and is attacked by other children Henry controls, who attempt to strangle her with a necklace and then push her down the stairs.
