Every new Pokémon confirmed for Pokémon Legends: Z-A

With the release of Pokémon Legends: Z-A getting closer, we’re learning more about what the game has to offer. Pokémon Legends: Arceus introduced unique regional variations of Pokémon, unexpected Origin forms for Dialga and Palkia, and even a brand-new legendary Pokémon named Enamorus. We can expect similar exciting discoveries in the upcoming game.

Nintendo is holding back some surprises, but they’ve already shown off several new Mega Evolutions for the game. We’ve collected all the revealed ones here, and we’ll add more as Nintendo announces them.

Eternal Flower Floette

Eternal Flower Floette is incredibly rare – many fans feel like it’s a legendary Pokémon! While there have been suggestions it would be released, trainers haven’t been able to obtain it. With the upcoming game Z-A focusing on the story of AZ and Floette, many hope this will finally be our chance to add this special Pokémon to our team.

Mega Dragonite

The first revealed Mega Evolution, Mega Dragonite, wasn’t the most impressive debut – it looks a bit awkward with the large white wings sprouting from its head. However, Dragonite has always had a charmingly silly side, and the small gem on its tail, a nod to its earlier forms, is a welcome detail. The biggest question now is what its Mega Stone will be named – perhaps Dragoniteite?

Mega Victreebel

This plant is wonderfully strange! It’s a large, blob-like creature that moves around like a slightly flattened yoga ball, and it actually spits poison. It takes the idea of a plant storing poison – like Victreebel – to the extreme. It’s so big, in fact, that it has to tie a vine around its… well, its equivalent of a neck, to keep all the acid from leaking out.

Mega Hawlucha

Mega Hawlucha has returned with a more powerful build and a brand-new look! Continuing the tradition of drawing inspiration from professional wrestling and lucha libre, its usual red and green mask has been replaced with a striking gold mask featuring white eye coverings. This gives Mega Hawlucha an even more dramatic and enigmatic appearance as it performs its acrobatic moves.

Mega Malamar

It’s become even more mesmerizing, which is concerning. For a week, it completely took over Pokémon’s social media, seemingly charming everyone – as if it wasn’t already unsettling enough. It’s also become noticeably slimmer, with all that mass appearing to have shifted to its head, making its brain larger than ever. Though, the rainbow glow is still quite beautiful.

Mega Chesnaught

I’m so excited to see Z-A giving the Kalos starters the Mega Evolutions they deserved back in the X & Y games! Mega Chesnaught looks amazing – it’s become even more of a powerhouse, with huge, shield-like armor on its back. It really hunches over, and the way its red fur falls down makes it look like a knight wearing a cape. Honestly, this new design is a huge improvement over the original!

Mega Delphox

Mega Delphox has a much more striking design, fully embracing its witch theme. Its small wand transforms into a broomstick, and its color scheme darkens, creating a more impressive look overall. This updated form should appeal to fans who weren’t thrilled with the original final evolution of Fennekin and Braixen.

Mega Greninja

Considering Greninja is often ranked as the most beloved Pokémon, many fans expected a more significant update with its Mega Evolution. Instead, the changes feel minimal – it mostly just appears flipped over. While the new color scheme of black and light blue is visually appealing, the overall design doesn’t feel drastically different, even with the addition of a large water shuriken hovering beneath it.

Mega Raichu X and Mega Raichu Y

The recent Nintendo Direct revealed exciting downloadable content for Pokémon Legends: Z-A, including two new Mega Evolutions for Raichu! This makes Raichu only the third Pokémon – alongside Charizard and Mewtwo – to have more than one Mega form. Each new form is designed around its namesake letter: Raichu X has tails and ears that create an ‘X’ shape, while Raichu Y boasts lightning bolt-shaped antlers forming a ‘Y’.
