Eve admits that Nicki Minaj made her feel insecure, Nicki responds

As a long-time fan who grew up with both Eve and Nicki Minaj dominating the music scene, I can’t help but feel moved by their recent exchange of kind words. Having followed their careers since the early days, I’ve witnessed the highs, lows, and the ever-changing dynamics within the world of hip-hop.

As a gamer putting it in my own words,

In my gaming journey through life, I’ve experienced firsthand the fallout when some women transfer their self-doubts onto others, a lesson painfully learned early on in my career. As my notoriety expanded, this pattern persisted in ebbs and flows. Determined not to be that source of strain for someone else, I knew I had to fortify myself, both physically and mentally.

However, when Eve encountered Nicki on the filming location, her apprehensions vanished as she recognized shared traits with Nicki.

Eve shared that she and Nicki got along perfectly fine during filming. They worked seamlessly together without any issues arising, contrary to her initial expectations. In between takes, Eve observed Nicki composing songs on her tour bus, juggling show dates over the weekends, quickly returning to set for long shoots of 12 to 16 hours. All this, while managing her personal life and maintaining a relationship.

At that point, she didn’t feel jealous towards her and even felt the urge to comfort her with a hug, she said. I thought I would resent her, but instead, what I felt was empathy. I recalled being like her, the girl who believed she had to handle everything on her own. The girl who faced constant expectations, as everyone watched her closely. Instead of feeling threatened by Nicki, I began to understand and feel for her situation.

Nicki responded on X and heaped praise on the Ruff Ryders rapper for being so candid.

“The degree of openness and honesty required for such vulnerability and transparency shows deep inner peace, joy, contentment, and control over one’s own self – a sign of true mastery. At its peak, self-examination is evident.

She was one of the children living in New York who used to watch Ruff Ryderz on television. When you burst onto the scene and took the game by storm, there were some people who couldn’t conceal their feelings of insecurity about it, she recalled. Although this topic is often overlooked today, she remembers that you dealt with it with poise and a generous dose of uncompromising talent and charm. You continued to soar ever higher.

Eve, who shared a heartfelt message about Nicki in an interview with CNN’s Laura Coates, replied by saying, “Dear Nicki, I want to express my sincere gratitude for your words. Your appreciation means a lot to me. Over the years, I have admired your growth as an artist, mother, and someone who has remained true to yourself. It’s not always easy for us, but you’ve done it brilliantly. I appreciate all the kind sentiments you shared, and I want to extend my blessings to your family too. The feelings are mutual.
