Ed Sheeran comes across as an engaging individual. While he’s undeniably famous, there’s a sense that he’s relatable, not aloof. He avoids appearing superior and intentionally takes steps to connect with everyday people. A notable example of this is his busking performances, where he performs music in public places, making himself accessible to all.

Ed Sheeran fills up arenas worldwide and enjoys immense popularity. Yet, he often steps out of his comfort zone to share his music with audiences who may not have heard it before. A recent example was in Bangalore, India, where he performed a series of shows. Even Ed Sheeran might have found busking an unexpected challenge there.

It was discovered that Indian officials stated Ed Sheeran lacked the necessary permit to busk on the bustling Church Street. Midway through playing “Shape of You,” police intervened and actually shut off Sheeran’s amplifier, thus ending his impromptu performance.

On social media, many criticized that the officers were incorrect in halting the performance, as Sheeran wasn’t causing traffic disruptions. Instead, he was aiming to spread some happiness amidst people’s daily routines by performing a few of his popular tunes. This impromptu event was intended to replicate the live shows that fans pay top dollar for in arenas, albeit on a smaller scale.

Later on Instagram, the performer clarified that he had, in fact, been granted permission to perform on the road. In his own words, “The street performance was pre-arranged; we didn’t just spontaneously show up.

Kids everywhere should learn from this instance. If you’re pondering whether to busk or not, think twice before starting in India, especially without proper authorization. Ed Sheeran didn’t get arrested; instead, his performance was halted.

It’s understandable that he had the necessary authorization for his arena shows, which might have angered some of his followers. Moreover, it’s plausible that the economy benefited from these arena shows, but not so much from his street performances.
