Title

The movie “Dune” is adapted from Frank Herbert’s second novel in the series, “Dune: Messiah”. Director Denis Villeneuve has stated that his trilogy isn’t a typical three-part series, but rather a two-part set, or a “diptych”, with the first two installments. However, it is titled as the third movie in a trilogy, namely Dune: Part Three.

The tale of Dune Messiah resumes with Paul Atreides, famously recognized as Muad’Dib and feared by many. As the Emperor ruling over the known cosmos, he holds power beyond what was ever intended for an individual. Adored as a divine figure by the devout Fremen, Paul grapples with hostility from the political houses he supplanted upon ascending the throne, as well as a plot orchestrated within his inner circle.

Meanwhile, though House Atreides is slowly disintegrating due to the schemes of its adversaries, a peril that looms over Paul arises not for him but for his beloved, Chani, and the future offspring of their lineage, the heir to the Atreides dynasty…

Behind the Scenes

Apart from directing duties, Villeneuve also collaborated on scriptwriting for “Dune: Part Three” alongside Jon Spaihts. They had previously worked together on the earlier parts. This upcoming film is produced by Legendary Pictures, while distribution will be handled by Warner Bros. Pictures.

The legendary Hans Zimmer will also return to the franchise to compose the score.

Production on Dune: Part Three officially began on July 7, 2025, in Budapest.

Dune: Part Three‘s Cast

In “Dune: Part Three,” we can expect the comeback of Timothée Chalamet portraying Paul Atreides, Zendaya as Chani, Florence Pugh in her role as Princess Irulan, and Anya Taylor-Joy playing Paul’s sister Alia.

Jason Momoa has confirmed his return as Duncan Idaho in the Dune franchise, despite his character’s death in Dune: Part One. Joining him are his son, Nakoa-Wolf Momoa, and Ida Brooke Silo, who will portray Paul Atreides’ twin children, Leto II and Ghanima. In the book Dune: Messiah, these characters are also Chani’s children, but whether this remains true in Villeneuve’s adaptation following the end of Dune: Part Two is yet to be seen.
