As a total movie buff, I always find it fascinating to hear behind-the-scenes stories, and Drew Barrymore recently shared a really relatable one on her talk show. She decided to get honest feedback from her audience about her dating app profile! Apparently, one guy didn’t hold back and told her straight up why he wouldn’t swipe right. She’d actually been upfront in her bio about not wanting to get married again or have more kids – she’s been married three times and has two daughters, so she felt it was important to be honest from the start. She even asked the audience what they thought of that approach, wanting their real opinions!
Drew Barrymore was surprised by a man’s direct response to her dating profile. He told her, “I’m sorry, it’s just really off-putting, and it just sounds like you’re un-open, immovable, and staunch and I would probably run away from you.” Barrymore shared that this was the opposite of the relaxed impression she was hoping to make. Instead of getting upset, she appreciated the honest feedback, as it was a perspective she hadn’t considered before. She even joked, “I was like, ‘But I’m trying to make it seem easy!’” She immediately changed her bio, realizing that clearly stating what she didn’t want might come across as rigid instead of approachable.
Barrymore learned from her dating app experiences that it’s usually best to keep things straightforward to avoid confusion. She told her audience, “I think it’s safer to just not make any declarations on a dating app – you’re not going to convince anyone.” She explained that trying too hard or being overly detailed often doesn’t work, and those conversations are better saved for in-person meetings.
Barrymore isn’t shy about taking chances in real life either. She recently shared a story about boldly approaching someone she found attractive while shopping with her friend Ross Mathews. Mathews playfully encouraged her to act like she was in a romantic comedy. Although the man turned out to be married, Barrymore was proud of herself for being brave and stepping outside of her comfort zone.
Drew Barrymore has a lot to celebrate lately, no matter what’s happening in her personal life. Her talk show, The Drew Barrymore Show, has been renewed for two more seasons, meaning she’ll be a familiar face on daytime TV through 2028. The show is currently more popular than ever, with over 1.6 million people watching each day for her positive energy and interviews with celebrities. Besides hosting, Barrymore has also been working on exciting projects, including a new commercial for MSC Cruises with Orlando Bloom, which started airing earlier this year. And fans can look forward to a beautifully restored 4K Ultra HD version of her beloved film 50 First Dates, coming out on June 23.
Rumors continue to circulate that she might star in a new Charlie’s Angels movie alongside Cameron Diaz and Lucy Liu, which Sony is currently working on. She continues to be a highly sought-after and popular actress.
