It seems that supporting Drake in his feud with Kendrick Lamar can earn you recognition, as demonstrated by a recent event. The Jamaican Dancehall legend, Vybz Kartel, who was absent from New York City for two decades, made a triumphant return after his release from prison and sold out consecutive shows. In appreciation for his successful performances at the Barclay Center last week, Drake presented him with a custom OVO owl chain as a token of respect.
For many years, Dancehall heavyweight has significantly impacted Drake’s creative process, shaping his rhythm, lyrics, and distinctive sound. Previously, Drake acknowledged Vybz Kartel as one of his primary inspirations in the music industry. By presenting Kartel with an OVO chain, Drake solidifies Kartel’s impact on his music. New York-based artist Alex Moss was commissioned for this special piece. Among two unique items, this Camo Owl design is a shared possession between The Boy and Kartel. The intricate camouflage pattern, made up of white, green, and black diamonds, stands out on the gold OVO owl, a symbol synonymous with Drake’s brand.
Take a look below at the custom work.
