As a devoted fan of hip-hop history, I can’t help but feel a sense of awe and nostalgia watching the reunion of two legends like Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre. The news of Snoop acquiring Death Row Records has been a long time coming, and seeing these giants collaborate once again is nothing short of exhilarating.
Initially starting his career under Death Row Records, Snoop Dogg eventually purchased the label from MNRK Music Group in the year 2022.
Over the weekend, Dr. Dre, who was previously associated with Death Row Records before establishing Aftermath Entertainment, discussed the acquisition during an appearance at ComplexCon with Drink Champs. The esteemed music producer initially expressed opposition to Snoop Dogg purchasing the label, but has since had a change of heart. Dre also expressed his immense pride in the veteran rapper.
“At first, I was quite disappointed when I learned that Snoop was revisiting Death Row’s work. Frankly, there was a lot of controversy attached to it. However, as I’ve seen what my brother has accomplished with it, I can’t help but feel pleased and impressed. He’s managed to breathe new life into the legacy we created together, and now I understand his vision. I admire it and feel proud of him for it.
Later on, Snoop acknowledged Dre’s words and expressed that they had moved him, saying “That brought a smile to my face. I appreciate it. You guys almost made me tear up.
Dr. Dre expresses admiration for Snoop Dogg’s efforts in rejuvenating Death Row Records. He says, “I’m blown away by what my friend is accomplishing. He’s resurrecting the legacy we built and I can see his dream, I respect it and I’m proud of him.” @SnoopDogg @drdre @Drinkchamps

Later on, Snoop shared a part of their meeting on Instagram, generating more positive feedback for the songs.
The original rappers are set to remind us once again what true greatness in music sounds like!
Without a doubt, the launch of “Missionary” marks an exceptional end to a remarkable year for Snoop. Not only did he co-host the Paris Olympics but also joined the panel of NBC’s “The Voice”, and secured the role as T-Mobile’s spokesperson.
