During an interview on the We Need to Talk podcast, Perrie Edwards spoke candidly about the challenges she faced when becoming a mother. She shared that she experienced several miscarriages before giving birth to her now 4-year-old child in 2021.

The artist additionally disclosed that she seldom discusses this matter publicly due to its deeply personal nature and the emotional difficulty she endured.

Edwards is betrothed to Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain. He proposed to the singer from Little Mix, whom he has been dating since 2017.

During the podcast interview, I couldn’t help but open up about my miscarriages – a subject I don’t usually discuss. I explained that it’s not because I feel ashamed, but rather because these experiences are deeply personal and incredibly challenging for me to confront.

Furthermore, Edwards shared that their pregnancies have been challenging, and they’ve faced numerous difficulties together. She described the experience as complicated for both of them.

As soon as the singer discovered she was pregnant, it was still very early in her term. Subsequently, Edwards experienced bleeding, and upon arriving at the hospital, the medical professionals informed her that there was no sign of a fetus.

I recall visiting my gynecologist after receiving test results, and I asked him to clarify the situation. With a heavy heart, he told me that I had experienced a miscarriage. I nodded, understanding the gravity of his words.

After a while, the singer became pregnant for the second time and gave birth to Axel, her first child. The following year, she suspected another pregnancy due to various symptoms. Unfortunately, this pregnancy did not turn out as expected; during the 22-week ultrasound, the singer once again tragically lost her unborn child.

She expressed that she felt deeply affected, perhaps traumatized. It’s strange because the initial incident, occurring so early, might have elicited a simple reaction of ‘Oh, that’s sad’ from her. However, when she was 24 weeks pregnant and had already made plans for the baby’s room and other preparations, it became much more difficult to cope with.
